Dang I wish I weren't busy next weekend or I'd be going to the chicken show!!! I have a question. Could I get information on the heritage breeds there and who and what to do about starting a breeding program?? I would like to research raising Delaware and Dominique's? Actually, I'm afraid to go cause I know there will be way more birds I'd like to have!! yikes!

Also, do they have shows in Washington frequently? Or just a few times a year?

I need to figure out how to put up an icon/avatar/userpic and add to the info under my name; I've been online so long under so many forms of coding that I'll probably post a whole lot of the wrong code.

Must get into town shoes and run off to the first weekend of the Oly Farmer's market, see if any of my friend's there have clues as to hens!

The avatar is the only picture that I have any trouble with. It drives me a bit batty. (I guess that's okay, cause I am a bit batty anyway.

) I can't seem to get some pictures small enough to use. For me some pictures work, and others just give fits.

Use the BYC uploader and check 'resize' and choose the avatar size... Pick your photo and upload to BYC. From your uploads page, find your new avatar... Save it to your computer (I have a 'pics resized' folder). Go to your Change Avatar and choose your photo from your 'resized pics' on your computer... Does that help or just make it worse?

maybe you already know this. :p

Eenie is in Missouri at her moms. She is come back on the 10th of May. I am hoping that we can have a potluck on the 14th of May so that everyone can meet her.
I think that the brownies uses grated beets, but I will have to look that up.

I have several picture altering programs on my computer, and I have used them some. But some of the pictures still argue with me.

I think the problem is with the compression part of the program. I can't seem to get some pictures to compress. It makes me a little crazy, because it seems like should be a simple thing.

I know it works on some pictures though, just not all. Uf Da!!!!!

OK, a great reason to get together then.
I have to get DH on the plucker when he gets back.
He has a honey do list a mile long now.

My husband and I conferred and decided to skip the market due to utter lack of cash. Oh, well. He had back surgery in September, and our shopping time is always closely watched; I don't drive and it's painful for him if he has to drive when he's tired.

He also can't help me move the chicken tractor, which is one reason I want to get a big run built this weekend: I have to wait until my son can come drive some posts for me. I am not thrilled with the amount of help I need these days, after always being able to do all the heavy work by myself. I'm not good at waiting for the muscle to show up!

The humping may or not stop...if you want to keep them in the same pen, they will usually get prego by 4 mo or so.
Doe rabbits hate other rabbits, and will fight for territory.
They do not like things moved in their pens either, and will be very happy if left alone, feeder & water bottle & salt lick undisturbed.
They hate other rabbits and will probably fight with or kill another rabbit in their pens, especially a male.
Males, altered or not, usually do not care who is in their pen.
In the wild they would go burrow to burrow imprgnating.
This is why, if you breed them, you always put the doe in the buck's cage to let them mate.
NEVER put another rabbit, male or female, in the doe's cage, she will fight & kill any other rabbit in her "territory".
Rabbits are not social creatures, and they hate each other.
I recommend seperate cages for each rabbit you keep.
And a plywood partition between close cages so the doe cannot even see the bucks.
Once of mating age, fighting will start if they are in the same pen.
Don't know what else to tell you, other than that, there are great rabbit raising web sites...

well that explains why my rabbit Bugs turned mean.... it would attack anyone.... it would growl hiss and stab you with its claws.... i had raised it from a baby bunny and made sure to socialize it and spoil it..... but i had to give it away after a year because no one could take care of it... i would be able to pet it and when a friend or family member walked up it turned mean.... put water... put food in and hiss growl attack. it also liked jalapenos and dog food..... never having a rabbit again after that experience... but maybe it was because he turned out to be a she... (entered it in the fair one fall under meat rabbit and they said it was a she.... i didn't win anything.... apparently for a california it was underweight.... i do not know how that was possible....).... no one ever warned or knew rabbits can be so rabbid.
