Biscuit&Nugget :

Hi fellow hen lovers! We (me and my 10-year-old daughter and hens) in the Tri-Cities, which is in Southeast WA. We are in the City of Richland. We started our backyard chicken-raising a year ago and we love it!! We have been "winging" it (no pun intended) since we started. Please feel free to write.

Not that I think everyone in Richland knows one another or anything, lol, BUT since I don't know anyone else in Richland...do you happen to know Ann & Wayne Winkelman?

! I would send him on down but I am sure you might not like the colorful words he uses when something does not go right lol. This is the guy that says...we are NOT having chickens!!!! but sneaks out to try and pet them and talk chicken with them...

Man, I can't keep up with this forum and I am on BYC all the time!!! You guys are crazy chatty!

As for your hubby, I would not mind, I probably say the same when I am out there attempting to fix, or make something! I just look at my oldest..who is usually helping me and say "you did not hear that...and don't tell your dad!!!" Heehee! I gotta go to a meeting now, I am sure when I get back there will be another 10 pages of chat!

Thanks for all the welcomes!

well you are brave! UC and Crohns are not nut friendly diseases! I have to really pay attention to what I eat to avoid that really nasty pain. most of us avoid nuts and seeds, foods with lots of fibre or that create gas. I went thru a lot of trial and error eating the wrong foods. I learned to avoid ANYTHING in the cabbage family, nuts, high fibre foods...oatmeal kills me even though I love it. popcorn, huge no no! I miss so many things I used to eat...but the trade off is no belly pain.

I have not had any dairy for 3 years. I have cut out all red meat except once in awhile ground beef. No raw veggies. Walnuts are a rare special treat! Very little to no gluten.

My nutritionist said that IF i am to indulge on nuts once in awhile that walnuts would be the best choice.

I can do cashews but must chew well. about the only thing I can eat is meat! I prefer what I raised myself though. meat in the store kills me. meat and taters and pasta is what I get to have, good thing to cause I love a good steak or chop!! I miss broccoli and corned beef and cabbage too! stir fry

oh well keeps my insides happy

Not having any experience, I don't know what to say. If farming weren't hard enough with the vagaries of weather and all, the last thing people need is the well groomed neighbor's dogs mauling their animals. What happened about the dogs that mauled your animals?
