My level of craziness =
This has occurred in just over a year:
Bought BR chicks from feed store and converted old kid play house to coop. Built protective run.
Then built another run, parallelling (just in case) and besides....this way the rabbit can run free.
Went to a show and met many of my BYC friends...caught the chicken bug even worse.
Bought incubator
Let hen hatch out eggs....bought 3 chicks to stick under her as just 2 didn't seem enough.
Incubator hatched out 8 chicks.
Just ordered a pre-fab little coop/run combo as DH is not carpentry literate and we needed a nice tight home for the new Seramas ordered.
Bought a $50 flashlight, that will light up a room (DH keeps playing with it and used it on his motorcycle yesterday) for candeling eggs.
Plan on building a third run (paralleling) and dividing coop for bantams on side and Big girls on other side.
Big girls you say? Oh, yes....25 Orp eggs coming in the mail to put in the incubator .... um, today. Might want to keep a couple and a roo.

I have decided that all of you have a very "dangerous" virus and it is contagious and I have DEFINITELY caught the bug. I hope it never goes away.

Please take care of yourself. We need you here. You ask some of the best questions. And I really like you.

I can relate to have to sit down and wait for the meds to kick in. I often have troubles figuring out how much pain I am in. Then I will realize that I am cussing and snapping at everything. It's then I that I just need to come in the house and get a BYC fix, and enough meds to function for a little bit more.

Thank you...it is nice to be needed.

I just need to listen to my body better (sounds like you too). Today I have to go TO work and I will make sure to eat correctly. I just get so involved and focused and I forget. You take care.

Okay, since we are posting a few kitty photos....Here is my lap (all you are going to see of me) trying to enjoy my morning cup of coffee and get my BYC fix....In my lap is Zach. This is his morning ritual. Jump into my lap, force his way for space to lie down. by the way, it was very hard to get a decent photo since I was taking the photos myself....so be gentle with my photography skills.

Just so no one freaks out....up against the wall is my Red Rider BB gun for shooting the neighbor dog when it was putting its head through the outside fence to "loook" at my chickens. We have a different fence now. Now the BB gun is used for shooting starlings, ferral cats, and my own dog if she will not stop barking.

Is that flashlight the one from Home Depot that is like 105 candles? If so that is the one I got. You can also get a rubber toilet flapper to fit on it and cut a hole out of the rounded side(to set the egg on). Works slick!
You know your gone when your go for to 50$ flashlight just to candle!!!

Im wondering how it sounded with the cut out. Did it change the tone at all?

I think it sounded just fine. Maybe some who were at the show and saw / heard that bell could give thier opinion.

I got mine at a hunting store in Wenatchee. It is 200 lumen. Brand: Surefire. rubber toilet flap? You mean the thing inside that lets the water come in and out of the tank to the bowl? Kind of shaped like a cup? I am going to have to go do this....sounds great. And yes...$50 for candeling....you know I have it bad.

For anybody looking for a "flashlight" to candle with. Check out the Monarch 500 made by Leatherman. It is stainless, a little bigger than the "mini mags" and is LED. I have one and can light the stop sign at the end of our road, 1/2 mile away. I have used mine for candling and had good luck with it. When I got mine a couple years ago they were very new and cost $30.

Woke up an hour ago to my 18 yr old DD cryin' her eyes out. Seems we had a Wheaten Am. chick die sometime in the night. No clue as to why.

Pretty sure it was to only pullet out of the hatch of eggs from Pips and Peeps.
So now I need to find some more WAMs from Jeans lines. If anybody has hatched chicks from pips and peeps, could you pm me?
Did anyone else see the egg that Jean brought to the show in Stevenson? Some seriously intense turquoise color.

Darkest egg I had ever seen! Beautiful!

It was as intense in color as the emos face, no lie!

Mine is LED to so it won't cook the eggs but I got suckered out of $50.

Sure seems like everyone has had a loss or knows someone who has. Sorry for your loss.

We're all mortal.

The more we love, the more we open ourselves up to the possibility of loss. Accepting that is, I think, the hardest part of being a grown-up.
