Gosh I feel so bad for you, I know the frustration.
Hang in there!
Try hard not to let it "get to" you....I really think Hospice should be with them more often..maybe hospice can convince them to move ?
Other wise, have siblings and maybe you all can get together & force them into assisted living ?
It may be all you can do is force them.

CL: I wanted to let you know that the older of the three pullets I got from you has started laying. Also, that she is a HUSSY....LOL. She was flirting and trying to get my little Roos attention from the start. Her eggs are really little. Her name is Matilda and I really think she will move up in the heirarchy of chickendom. She constantly follows Tyson around (the roo), fluttering her eye lashes and showing a little ankle. She picked a fight (through fence and netting) with the momma hen with the babies. Matilda and Hannah were all fluffed up and pecking and twisting throught the fencing...but each only got netting to bite. Wow, Matilda has potential as a Queen hen.

Her eggs should get bigger, and fast.
What color was it ?
Should be brown..to maybe a pinky-brown..she is half wyandotte , mamma was a wyandotte "biddy" from Cheryl

One day, all our chickens may be related !!!!!!!

Glad to hear Ogress did not roll the mower..you could have been hurt badly!!
Must need studded lawn mower tires to get back up the hill.
At least you have a great excuse to not mow now..........

I have stayed up until 11 o'clock baking a scratch GF New York Cheesecake...HUGE and beautiful..used GF graham crackers, all else GF flours in the cake..YUM!!!!!

Got up & did feed, coops, water & took care of the dog & chicks, made a HUGE cole slaw with shredded cabbages, carrots, golden raisins, shredded green apple & can of crushed pineapple and bottle of (YUMMY) Maries' coleslaw dressing.OH wow is it ever tangy good.....could add mandarin oranges too but did not.
OK, shower & off to Mom & Dad's in Elma for the feast!!

OH AND A MESSAGE FOR THOSE THAT GOT CHICKS YESTERDAY::::::
The birds have been on Patriot Farms 16% grower, unmedicated (and they LOVE IT)
They had 1/2 tablespoon of corrid added to their water because they had unmedicated food, so no cocci.
They will need medicated feed or corrid added to their water and be weaned off of it as they build immunity to the cocci you have at your house.
So feed medicated feed, then half medicated & half reglar feed and after 2 weeks 1/4 medicated and 3/4 regular feed, and so on.
If any signs of cocci develope, feed full start n grow or corrid in the water ASAP & repeat the "weaning" process again until they are immune to the parasites.
These parasites are in the soil everywhere, and the birds must develope immunity to them.
OK..I am off to yet another family function..........

LOL....we will be like second cousins. It was about the size of the cochin hen I have...and it was brown like the BRs. She is funny. Loves attention...even from us. The first few times the roo actually beat her up because he did not really know here...but she kept flashing ankle and running whenever he sang his goody song...he came around. She seldom leaves his side.

sorry to hear about your mom and dad. Maybe rather than trying to get them to accept / admit they need help. Try the idea of how much it would be better for you if they would allow someone to come check on them. I know first hand that people don't like to be dependant. But many times they will accept help if it is done in such a way that they feel they are helping others. Just an idea and MHO.

Thanks. I've tried that. I'm supposed to worry. It's my duty as a daughter.

I'm not the doctor or the university professor, I'm just the one who is HERE, and has to deal with them!

Oh, good grief.

Hope tomorrow is a sensible day for your Dad, and they get their status changed .

Today, mother needed maintenance to come help her to the bathroom. The hospice nurse is coming at 12:30. I'm guessing she needs an IV TODAY, but Dad doesn't agree. I hope the nurse can talk sense into him. Or the residence. You can't call on special services too often without them insisting on changing your status.

So maybe I am the only one sitting home today?

We did our family gathering yesterday. It was nice to sit outside and hold my 8 month old niece. Aunty T brought hard boiled duck eggs and my 4 year old nephew and I sat in the grass and colored on the eggs in the sun. He wrote is name all by himself on a egg!! His mom & dad are not into teaching him ABC's & 123's. So Aunty T has him working on them whenever I can!

Taking it easy today. Hoping there are some good movies on!!!!
