I was going to say to check it's foot color. Cochins have yellow, or should be yellow. I have pics of my 7 wk old blue/black cochins, from Sheryl's birds. I will upload in a bit. You should be able to tell if it is a cochin, they look like little fluffy bowling balls already. Marans have a much leaner, tighter plumage and body shape.

The Cochins will also have very very heavily feathered legs and feet to the middle toe. The Marans aren't nearly as heavily feathered.
