So I'm guessing no one here does wing bands? I'm just looking for more info as I really want to keep good records on my show quality chicks/teens/adults.
I'm not fond of the leg bands since they have to be changed out so much as they grow.

. And I need to send a PM because *I* need to make arrangements to pick up more eggs myself! I even told DH I was going to hatch some more chicks right away and he just kind of nodded his head and said okay.

How many Fav chicks did you end up with??

Interesting about the sex link marking. I don't suppose that marking would be true for a Golden Cuckoo Marans over light Sussex chick would it? I'm not seeing large white dots on either of these babies. And now CGG has confirmed the chicks parentage, and we've found the black orp had no part in it. The whole genetics world is confusing but fascinating to me.
Thanks for the information about your olive eggers!

You want to really be confused ???
I bred Blue Ameraucana Cock to Blue Ameraucana Hens, and have hatched over 50 of their eggs, and sold/shipped over 50 more, and one day, in a hatch 2 months ago, a weird "splash" chick hatched.
This baby, is not a splash, but mottled..
pips&peeps answered that there is no such thing as a mottled ameraucana....I agree there.
Just look at the standard.
Not only that, she has tufts.
Last time I said this, Ultasol corrected me & said the Ameraucana has "muffs", yes I agree, BUT this pullet has tufts like an araucana!!!!!!!!
I showed the bird to Ogress when she was here.
This is one beautiful pullet.
It proves if you breed long enough, who knows what will hatch out ?

PICTURES???

Thanks! The other chickens actually bought her. I just made the PayPal transaction.

That's good. I wish mine could pay - even when I count only food, I'm deeper in the hole each month. I'm up to 45 chickens, but only 8 or 9 are laying, the others are too young, wrong sex, or broody.

This is getting to be as expensive as beading, and my chicken collection takes up a lot more room than my bead collection.

....and then there is all that fabric from when I used to sew, and all those quarters from when I tried to quilt ... I'm bad.

My oh my, you ARE bad...tsk tsk.

At least you haven't plugged in your bator.
I have a BIG bator humming in me laundry room and there are eggs in it.

So far I've sold 15 ducklings and made $150.
Spent...$500? Maybe more. This is definately a hobby. Not a money making investment.

But I did have to kick all the ducks out of my house last weekend.

20 ducks in the house got a bit stinky.

My DH has quit counting my ducklings and given up on figuring how many coops I might need.
He even gave up on asking the county's limit.

I told him we live next to horses and cows. There is no limit.

I went from 2 to 20 ducks in 4 months, and I have a BIG bator.

Got to love my DH.
