Someone had some GORGEOUS Citron Spangled Hamburgs for sale in the auctions....had it been a pair (and not as spendy, I would have gone for it). I think it was 3 roosters, 2 hens and some unsexed chicks for $200). No one bid.

Oh, yes, the citrons are gorgeous, and supposedly less flighty than the SSH; I'm interested but they're about five items down the list (1. Rooster for The Roches 2. Hens for Ian 3. Dependable broodie worker hens 4. Bantams of Outrageous Gorgeosity). So, you know, next year, probably.

Yes--usually some fruit, bread, etc but they are always starved & hungry when they get here.

Express is supposed to be overnight but the fine print says "to most locations." When I got my LS from Greenfire, they took THREE days. They went from FL to Spokane to Seattle to Wenatchee to Okanogan. They had a hard trip and it was quite the temperature shock (FL in the fall, vs Okanogan in the fall). Their combs were VERY pale when they arrived, they were VERY thristy and cold....but all made it.

My last batch of eggs were mailed from the West side of WA...they were overnighted to me...Took 2 days to get here. It is just where we live.

I bought some eggs from WA4-Hpoultrymom. I don't believe they were overnighted but they took 2 days as I expected they would.

It is just because of where we are. If the post office or FedEx or UPS does not get them by a certain time, we don't get the until the 2nd day. We are just in the sticks.

Wow! She's gorgeous! I can't see paying that much for one bird, but then I have no room to talk. I bought a baby llama when I was pregnant.

Thanks! The other chickens actually bought her. I just made the PayPal transaction.

NICE!! I love anything Dun!! Horses chickens,...you name it!! lol!!!

I bought 6 rir chicks at Del's that are now 4 weeks old. I am wondering if RIR's are mean as these really beat up each other and I have other chicks with them that they beat on when they are not beating up each other? Should I just sell them and keep the nice sweet mix breed chicks and jersey giants? I have 5 eggs under broodies that are buff orpingtons also. So at some time they would be all together.

Our "Finnish Spitz" loves to catch them, mice, voles, shrews, you name it. Luckily she doesn't do a lot of digging. She runs the pastures, and when she scares one up, the chase is on.

My RIR is the friendliest of all my hens! She was a mean pullet at times, and right before she started to lay, ahs and my New Hampshire fought a bit, so I carried the RIR around for a few hours. No problems since! My Buff Orpingtons are my mean girls, at least when they are broody.

Its because you like me live so far out in the styx that they have to pipe daylight to us !!!!

True - so true.
Wish they would pipe in some day light now. It has rained so hard now for 24 hours...RFF and I may just mistakenly think we live on your side of the mtns.....

. Sorry, had to put that in. But seriously they have this half of the state all under flood warnings. A friend of mine lives on the river and she facebooked me and asked if she needed to...could I hold her young chickens for her. Her house is in a straight shot for the river to flood. She has a portable storage unit in her yard and she has been packing and moving items...just to be prepared. I of course told her that her birds could take refuge here. I can throw together a quarantine area and put them there.

SEE!! That's what happened to us the other day!! It was CRAZY!! I was having nightmares that someone had dropped me in the middle of Lynnwood!! lol

Did you get them from a feed store or a breeder?
