Just came in to get a sweatshirt, that breeze cuts right through ya. I moved 16 tractor loads of goat manure out to the field for the potatoes this morning. Have to go back out and get it spread out. That gets done the ol fashioned way. By hand.

back later.

Well, four of us went to the top of Capital Peak in a 1972 Honda Civic to watch the ash plume (that was the 19th, though; my future husband was in OKC at his mother's funeral).

Three of us, in the same car, went to the end of a logging road south of Mossyrock the Sunday before and caught photos of a preliminary steam eruption from the old Fuji like cone of St. Helens; where we were was just at the edge of the blowdown zone.

I was working for the 1980 census for the third congressional district; the eruption happened during the door-to-door check phase. The census districts which included the red zone was already a heavily unresponsive place, but it pretty much took an act of congress to let the books be closed without determining who, exactly, had been living there on the census date. The constitutions says enumeration, (Article 1, section 2) then bigawd there will be an enumeration.

Well, there's rabies, for one thing.

I have little bats living here, year round, that swoop down in front of my kitchen window all night for bugs.
Even in snowy cold, they are there every eve.
They must live in the old snag trees out here in the 100 acre wood.
So far, I have not gotten rabies !

I hate to be the party pooper, but until you know what's going on with that chicks eye, and if it is a contagious infection, you really shouldn't be "swapping" any thing. You run a major risk of transmitting it to other people's birds....

I am not SWAPPING my chickens. I am doing a poultry swap for people to come and sell their chickens, turkeys, ducks and the like. Its going to be a big gathering with lots of people. I plan on buying some chickens if people have what I want.
So sorry that you misunderstood the intent.

CL you must have some unusual bats there. See the bats in this area basically hibernate starting about the time the temps get in the 40's. They may take a "cleansing flight" but rarely eat during winter. I am terrified of bats so I study them a bit to learn about them. Part of my fear is the fact that they for some reason target me. It has been seen by others. The bats will come right at me but not bother anybody else even standing right next to me. I also can hear them chattering.

As for the horse poo. THis stuff has had that nice layer of grass blended in by the horsies before processing. And it is stored under a nice layer of green to help hold the wrigglers The green cover will be included at no extra charge.
