I went out to check the chickens at 7 or so and the Hamburgs were Not Happy: the wind had picked up and I have yet to find a way to block the wind from their roost. I finally gave up looking for anything permanent and put a garbage bag between the two layers of wire and stuck it together with carabiners. I have plans drawn for an actual coop for them, but can't buy materials until Friday at the soonest. I'd grouch about not expecting to have to deal with this kind of weather this late in the year, but it'd be a fib: I spent two weeks in June three years in a row at what was called Junior High Show-how or "Primitive camp" (lash your own privy! It's fun!) and probably had four days of dry weather the whole time. Maggie jumped up on the roost to inspect my work when I finished, and they're snuggled up there out of the wind now.

Hope I'm healthier tomorrow and can finish the Wyandotte coop so I can do a better job of weather protection for the Hamburgs. I suppose when I get everything weatherized it'll decide it's time to be summer.

I have found a home for one of my extra Brabanter pullets. I met Cat at the spitz chicks trough at Monroe Farm and Feed the day of the show. She mentioned that there was a FaceBook Spitz club, and encouraged me to join. She asked how my Brabanter chicks were doing recently, and I told her about my space issues, and how I needed to get at least one pullet out of the crate. I kind of hoped Cat would be interested, and she was. She came by today to see her, and I'll take her over to her house tomorrow. The chick is now named Annie Jones after a famous bearded lady.

It turns out the coop guy who has been wasting my time the last few weeks, has a reputation for not delivering on his promises, sometimes even after money has changed hands. Fortunately, I haven't given him any money.

Yes, he's tired of glasses. Tried contacts over the last year and didn't like them either. He participates in Tae Kwon Do 3 nights a week, and rides a motorcycle, and glasses just get in his way for both activities.

yup. I wanna do mine. Everyone I have talked to says there is NO PAIN. There are NO NERVES in the eye.
They actually laser operate on the eye while you lay there & look up into the microscope...fascinates me!!!!!!

I had mine done for free 6 1/2 yrs ago because my DH works at the Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute. They give you valium to keep you calm and put numbing drops in your eye so you feel no pain(would hurt like you know what without the drops!!!) I went in an couldn't read the big "E" on the eye chart and in 5 minutes I left and could read a hand written sticky note that was stuck on the edge of the door and it had to have been 5-6 feet away!!! Amazing! I had been in glasses since 6th grade, and left with 20/15! I was scared to death but now I know that it is no biggie and I would do it again in a heart beat!
I was picky about who did mine. I have heard some horror stories! The owner of PCLI designed and built the laser used on me. He is an amazingly smart man. I had to go to Bellvue to have it done but it was worth it!
It was very strange, I had to break the habit of reaching for glasses first thing in the morning. But how great to not have those things hanging off my nose making it bigger than it already is!

Oh, great: nothing worse than an unreliable builder.

(And I speak in the voice of "she who has herself for a builder has a fool for a client," or at least has nobody else to blame).

Glad the bearded lady has a good home!

Maybe you should take a spontaneous road trip to, say... Washington! No violent tornadoes here that I know of! But, yes we will pray cause God still hears!
