Hello neighbors!
I live in Gig Harbor WA. It is across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. I am a new mom with 3 Chicks. Lucy, a New Hampshire Red, Gladys a Buff Orpington and Lucy a White Leghorn. They are 7 weeks old now and I am crossing my fingers that they are all girls.

What kind of plastic do you have as the roof? How do you keep it on?

Sorry so late! I've been trying to keep up, buuuut...

It's the heavy duty vinyl canopy that came with a 10X20 tent we were using as a hay shelter, so it has an extra flap with grommets on the long under-sides that I zip-tied to the metal frame. Then I used plastic cap roofing nails to secure the outer flap to the outside top rail of the run.

On each end, there is a rope channel that snugs the canopy down over the gables, so I have the ropes screwed to the top rail, plus I used sheet metal roofing screws (AND more zip ties!)

to snug it up. This is a canopy dealers picture that kinda shows how it attaches to the horiz poles and the roped ends...

And this is mine from inside the run... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/84860_100_0596.jpg

The entire tent (with four sides) was about $200 from Sportsmans Guide a couple years ago, but I know you can get just the replacement canopy for around $60.

Eventually, I want to do the whole thing in sheet metal to match the cabin, but until I win the lottery...

We have 2 of those in CA that used to cover our 2 boats, and they are still there...
We got a replacement tarp for them, at a surplus, that fit exactly, and held down with those tarp rubber loop band-thingies!
Well done & snug & dry!!

And here is a little quote from http://www.ultimatehorsesite.com for what is the MOST COMMON breed of horse used for bucking stock. Good conformation, strong legs, high spirits, and desire to buck make a horse a good bronco. Most broncs are part draft, which gives them good bone and muscle making them able to jump high, and part QH, appy, or paint to give them heart and a strong will and athletic ability. Many come from generations of bucking horses, so the natural desire to buck is bred in them

BTW The horse Michelle was on when she got her pelvis and wrist broke. Guess what POCO BUENO. And a now deceased friend had the full brother he also had some very bad rides one of which ended up with a shattered elbow. That particular horse had some real anger issues.

But remember...there are good and bad in EVERY species (including people). I had a Morab (morgan/arab) who I would not trade for anything. He did throw his head and give me hellish black eye once....but on a packing trip into a lake (above Twisp)...our friend's QH mare and mule both "freaked out" on the trail and in the long run, it was Naches (our morab) who ended up making a double trip to help haul everything in. The QH mare was experienced packer, as was the mule. The mule flipped out and lodged himself - upside down- between a stump and rock...had to cut the pack of of him. The mare - she blew up at the very beginning of the trail and went bucking and kicking and running straight through us pack of kids (about 10 of us). My poor morab was the unexperienced 3 yo who was the one that no one was trusting...but ended up being the dependable one. He was so funny....he would grab your glove, hammer, shovel, whatever you had there by you if you were working on something...and run off with it. He was a riot. I used to ride him at a dead run across the field with only baling twine around his neck (don't ask me how I never got killed - no clue)

Morgans are so awesome!!!

Ey? No...it is not 12 duckies...21 duckies last time I counted. They don't keep still...so maybe 22?
And the chicken eggs are for thsi gal I met at the feed store. She said she was looking and I said I might be able to hook her up.

She did not fall for the duck egg.

Um....blueducklings....I think Ogress is referring to the word following the number "21". It does not say duckies - you use a different vowel.

O geeeeze. I think most of me ducks are girls. LOL

Hey, I heard on the cable news this AM that the Ponderay is rising so much so that Cusick is going to hit flood stage soon.
I have friends along the river, and some on the other side BELOW the road in a valley which is exactly where the overflow will go...poor Larry, he is old, too, and lived in his verticle log cabin for many decades....hope they fair well.
But will the rising water effect Terrie ?

LOL I had a QH that would do that if we were doing "boring" stuff - flat refused to lope. Now, if we were outside having fun, or hazing cows or roping, he was push button! But if we were trying to just work out and lope the arena....forget it!! Best horse I've ever had!!

Oh yeah, I can't believe I forgot to tell this story.....that psycho Arab mare I had once climbed an apple tree! Yes, CLIMBED! I looked out in the pasture one day and couldn't find her, figured she got out AGAIN (she used to climb under the hot wire on her knees to graze by the road) and as I was scanning the pasture, I see a big black butt sticking out of one of the apple trees! She had to have hooked her front legs over a branch and just pulled herself up. There was no way I could handle staying there and watch the disaster that would be the nut bar falling out of the tree, so I hopped in my car and went for a drive. Half hour later I came back and she was grazing away in the pasture....sticks and leaves in her mane......
