Made coffee
Let both flocks out to free range - First time the "younger" (9 wks) birds have been together with the older birds (12 wks). Surprisingly enough it is the younger, smaller birds who are more aggressive (Golden Sex links vs EE's and RIR's). The EE's seem to be the most docile.
Took the cover off the pool and vacuumed
Fixed the dogs 'invisible' fence (again)
Planted a rose
Had lunch

Now that my obligations are out of the way for the day -- Ima go play with my chickens!!

Since I do not yet have a sheep, the lawnmower is again in need of service, and there is no longer a weed-eater made that doesn't have a fatal flaw when faced with pasture grass instead of bluegrass, I just spent the manditory half-hour twice a day whacking grass with shrub loppers. It is hard not to accidentally leave the gate to the orchard open accidentally-on-purpose and let a couple of small to middling cows in the yard for a bit, but I am not so gone to reason to forget that one cannot titrate cattle.

When are you getting your sheep?

He'll be weaned at the end of June; I'm likely to be getting the Hamburg cockeral (from a woman who lives in Davis and has relatives in Shelton) about the same week, so I may just fix the greenhouse and quarantine him in there, since both of them will need housed simultaneously.

I'll need to have either a hotwire set-op or a safe tether for the lamb, also; on the other hand, I need to stop thinking about that stuff and take my insulin and eat, since I really sat down to check my BG and Email simultaneously.

Hi & Thanks for the welcome. I'll look forward to meeting her, I don't live close but we drive over there to visit once in a while. The people we bought the chickens from told me about it, what a hoot!

: I'm sorry for your losses, take care. And by the way.... 98117 was my zip for quite a while. I miss it actually.

Thank you CarolynF for the condolences. And everyone else as well.

Carolyn, I lived on Crown Hill for close to 7 years, worked at the CH Value village for 3 years, and was a partner at the Tweetery in Ballard for the first couple of years that it was open. This was of course back in my Cockatiel breeding days. I too miss living up there, but the area has really gone down hill over the past few years. It can be kinda sketchy and dangerous walking around up there at night anymore. And now that I have a kid, well... I just prefer to not raise her in the city.

Hello all. I am looking all over for chicken fabric that doesn't cost more than $8 per yard, I want to make some aprons for my mom and sister. If anyone is headed for the craft stores, could you let me know if you see any?
Also, here's a pic of the little ones enjoying the grass and warm weather.

Everyone must be out enjoying the sun! I actually got too hot and had to come in for a bit for a cold drink! Been weeding like crazy. Also cleaned the basement/brooder area. Was nice and cool down there. I am soooooooooooooooo NOT complaining though! We are so long overdue for this nice weather!!!!
