Well this is, without a doubt, the finest chicken coop (mansion) I have EVER seen. Dang, a whole new standard has been set.

Wholly cow where ya been girl???? Ain't seen you around in like forevveer!!! Welcome back !!!!
Yes I wish that coop was mine. I have not seen it in person but I know his work and am sure it is all perfecto.

Well it is finally looking like I am making some progress on the grass here. I spent most of the day dancin to AC/DC on the weedeater. Went through about 2 gal of gas and 15 sets of blades. I even managed to get most of the grass cut in the bantam run. That is not an easy task since the grass is clear up to the top (about 3') and I am 6' tall. I had to do something cause them little booogers just had tunnels in the grass. They was sneakin round like jungle foul.

Oh, heck, I know that one- Mom had it for years. It's either a Burbank (yep, that Burbank) or a Van Fleet wichuriana hybrid, and smells of cut apple when in bloom.

I'd get up and look for one of my reference books, but I just went down hard; one of my subterrainean enemies put a deep hole in the path and I fell on my arm with a disturbing crunch in the rib area: I can breath without hurting but not twist sideways or bend over much*. I need a bucket full of gravel in the hole but nobody will be around until tomorrow. to do that or get the last few bits on the hoop house taken care of; I'm going to go eat dinner and then try to cut two more 15" pieces of 1X4, four 45 degree facing cuts nine inches on the long side and an assortment of mitered pieces from one foot down to four inches, all in 1X2. If I can.

I took a good hard look at my mental processes and building supplies this morning and decided to go get supplied and wait until I felt smarter to build anything, and thenI was sabotaged by a stupid mole/vole/gopher/fieldmouse/assorted shrews/or other assistant of gravity and other aspects of fate.

*so of course this was the evening I had to drag all the feed and water stuff out of the Hamburg coop because they've found new and exciting ways to get dirt in.

Ouch! I hope you feel better soon. I think I have again worn the cartilage in my R knee. It is painful when I walk. I need to lose a lot of weight! Another day like today will help, up on my feet and working hard.

Welcome to Deweydoodledo and welcome back to LOrraine even though I have never met ya! Glad to have ya here!

Been super busy because of the dry weather. Got our tractor back from the guy who borrowed it and so we have been tearing up the back yard. Been limbing trees, knocking down berries vines, leveling dirt and bunches of other stuff! And like CR, I think we have weedeaten at least 2 acres of 3 ft tall grass. Our rider has been dead for 2 hrs. Such fun!

Finally got the 1st coop crate done. Big brooder over the roosts which is over the poop board which is over the nest boxes that I hope will be used someday! Just need to finish the nest boxes for the 2nd coop crate.

The bantam leghorn roos that I hatched from Jim Lucas have started to do the 'Look at me aren't I cute dance!' around the one pullet that hatched. One of the 2 boys will have to go eventually or she will get worn out. The little guys are like acrobats when they spar. A lot of jumping and circling but little else. I'm sure things will get worse if I don't get rid of one. I have 5 bantie Roos and 1 pullet. Need to find some other pullets. I'm thinking I want B RIR's, B BR's, or more B Leghorns cause the ones we hatched are so tame.

I could not believe I was gone all day and only 9 pages to catch up on, phew! Could have been 50!

PPP- did you really want me to post that sign again? Or was that a joke request? A bit dense tonight I am!

Ogress- the Mrs. Sam McGedy rose is an old one so it might be hard to get ahold of. I would love to know the name of that dark pink climbing rose too! That is my favorite color!!! It would look awesome on my old grey cedar fence with my Jackmanii clematis scrambling through it!

CR- that coop was awesome!!!!!!! I would live there! WOW, what an artist!

RFF- sorry about your power! Go figure, we worry all winter and they you get hit when it is approaching summer. Bummer, poor babies!

Sorry to all those having migraines! I had a bad one once, that was enough! I hear they are common in pregnancy though. And for certain food allergies.

Well 6:45 comes early so I better get to sleep. Might not be on much tomorrow either. The guy who borrowed our tractor is trying to get someone to help him finish a job at his place and when he does he'll need our tractor back so I'm trying to get our stuff done in a hurry before he needs it back. Be nice to have it done before the rain returns as I'm sure it will!
Have great day all!

I have a lot of crows fly fairly low over my chickens. There are 2 nests that I can see from by back lawn. I have never seen them dive for the hens, but the hens scatter all the same. Luna, the light Sussex from RFF is very good at spotting them, sounds the alarm, and they all dive for cover. She also listens to the songbirds, and when they stop, she calls and everyone runs to the hen house! She's a better flock guardian than any of my roos! Only she will not wander far from the coop where the others like to explore new territory.
