CL what is the youngster in the front just off to the left of the second pic? Boy, girl, BW or just Wheaten? Max looks just like that! I don't think he is blue though. Everything is turning black on his chest and in his tail, Hackle feathers are striped like that and Saddle feathers are coming in that deep chestnut brown. Thoughts? He is so cute right now. I think he will be good to the girls, but who knows?

Those are his brothers, to the left is a Wheaten, in the center, a Blue Wheaten.
Same hatch, same bloodline, brothers.

I think you and I need to find us a BLRW black phase rooster apiece, is what I think. Putting out search vibes!

I'm probably going to keep the darker of the two cockerels to breed to Ian's daughters, but with only one blue BLRW (Sylvia) it looks as if a black cockerel is needed post haste. I'm hoping to talk my cousin into incubating an Ian and Sylvia setting as soon as feasible, and also taking the extra cockeral to replace the RSL who got coyote chomped. Assuming his three-pound OEGB lets another rooster on the place: the last time I saw Gonzo he was getting knocked cap over keister down the hill by a single chest bump from the Mighty Mite.

Wyatt and Ian have a lot in common colorwise; I suspect Wyatt is better in Wyandotte type, especially the short back/high tail part.

WOW!!! A blue boy!!! Now see, that must be from one of Willow's eggs. I think I showed her to you. She is the one that has the really really dark mahogany color, and those were the first that I've hatched from her. All of Wynona & Wyatt's babies have been splash. I hatched your batch plus one more batch with her eggs in it and sold them all. I had assumed until now that Willow was splash also, but she must be a light light blue to be hatching out chicks that dark! Please keep me posted on how that one feather's out as he matures! Oh I'm so excited! I'll have to email my other buyer and see what she ended up with because she got some darker looking day old chicks too.

I also just hatched out 6 BLRW chicks from shipped eggs although one died the next day. And I definently have some darker chicks. The one that died was the darkest of them all, but two are definently at least blue and 3 are splash or light blue.

And here is my black BLRW cockerel William from CCG.

He and another splash pullet moved into the Wyandotte coop this weekend and so far all is well. Wyatt has been fine with them which I am thrilled about!

Oh, nice!. Great young man, there.
