That stinks! I hope you find a good contract for a replacement! (or win the lottery!)

And Cheryl, will try to get pics of the Blue Am boys for you soon.

CR, way to go on the coop. Looks great!

Congrats to everyone on your chickels.

And also, if anyone is interested in chicks, I don't breed junk birds. I start with the best I can find and breed to the standard the best I can. I do try to come out ahead, thats what farming is about but I don't just sell my culls. You will get some really nice birds with my chicks. I hatch batches for myself for flock improvement and batches to sell. I also have started birds and occasionally laying pullets/hens. Always have roos! PM me if interested.

Kids last day of school today (my last day of freedom). They get out before lunch! What's the point of going?

I googled "cheap home-made teacher gifts" and have been making these the past few days. When DD saw them, she groaned and asked "remember when you bought everyone a coffee mug? Why couldn't you just have given out coffee mugs again?

I'm sorry. that sucks. Maybe the big company will do something really stupid like spray everything with roundup, and they'll want you back.

Thanks for that. I'm getting old! I would rather win the lottery! I would need 7 residential accounts to make up for losing this commercial one. DH is out of work right now pending his Shoulder replacement surgery. Really hope we get a disability check soon. I guess I better get outside and get some planting done. Can't sell produce if I never plant it.

That sucks.
I hope you'll find accounts that appreciate the care you put into their land.
Most big companies posion our land, and seem to like to hack off the plants into tiny balls. ???
Shame.

To all of you who have chickens and ducks...
What do you do if you have to go on summer vacation?

I'm still flummoxed that anyone would want to get rid of salal. Not only is it native, low-input, and pretty in its own right, it's a valued landscape plant everywhere: on the east coast and especially in England it's the mainstay ground-cover of large public plantings, along with Holodiscus discolor and Ceonathus cuneatus (prev. californicus), all of which I've seen local ill-educated landscape contractors bulldoze out and replace with that tool of Satan, Helix hedera, English Ivy, pure evil expressed in plant form.

We used a pet sitter once. But we have 3 dogs + the chickens. They came once in the morning to let the dogs out, check on the chickens, and again in the evening to check on everyone and feed, water them and put the dogs in for the night.

We also had our nephew "house/pet sit" for us last summer. Cause now we have goats too! I keep telling DH to take the girls somewhere and I'll just stay home for a stay-caytion!!!
