I have 2, if you really want them that bad, you can buy them or trade for any other pullet. DH does not want those nasty white eggs neither. I'm sure if he reads this he will give CR my address!

Are they good layers? The guy at the grange was really talking them up when they did not have any speckled sussex. Not sure how old they are, though I took a photo the day I bought them. I'll look it up because it will have a date on it. I'm thinking about 10 weeks. Are you in Woodinville?

Those roos are sooo nice! Initially I was not going to keep them, but they are so friendly now, They used to run from me, but since I have been keeping them in the hen pen, they have been picking up on their behavior and are super friendly now. They follow me around the yard and if I sit down out there, they come sit by me! The smaller one lost a few feathers protecting one of the lavenders from Shasta, my over-exuberant mutt who wanted to play fetch with her. (Shasta jumped on the gate and discovered Olivia had not latched it!). She caught the pullet, she did not bite or wound her, but she was covered in dog slobber
sickbyc.gif
Romulus came to her rescue, and Shasta dropped the pullet but got a mouthful of wing feathers from both the pullet and the cockeral. Serius has found a hen friend - Huckleberry, my Australorps. Olivia wanted to know why he keeps trying to stand on her, and why she no longer runs away, but follows him around! Both Serius and Romulus crow, always at the same time, but thankfully not often.

Duracell, the Barnue Roo crows a lot more often. He used to be very sweet, but now he rarely free ranges as the orpington roos and mt NH hen all beat him up. He has turned a little nasty and bit me yesterday, drawing blood and leaving a good bruise on the top of my hand! He lives in the tractor with his hens and Flop, the runt roo whom Olivia will not part with. Maybe if I put the others in their pen more often and let the Barnies roam, he may calm down some, or likely he is feeling his hormones. I know they are supposed to be a very gentle breed. Just 2 weeks ago, he was the sweetest of all my birds! Maybe he is jealous of the other roos.

So pretty! I love CGG's barnies!

I let them free-range this evening. He was pretty nice again, though a bit skittish. Bad thing with the tractor vs the walk in, I don't go inside the coop so the chickens in it tend to be more wary of people than everyone in the walk-in.

wont ever catch me paying that much for a chicken that could fall over dead because it wanted to, or get eaten by the neighbors dog... no way jose!

All their prices are way way way too high.

I sent them a e-mail about ordering Cream Legbars last Decmber..I had a X-mas gift of some cash to spend...and they never responded..

wow, is that annoying or what??
Happy Birthday & have fun!!!!!!!!!

Haha - not annoying - it was a nice sentiment, just a little hyper! Thank you - we had a perfect day! DD and I met my gf on the waterfront. They had a perfect table for us outside on the deck overlooking the water. Warm sun, little breeze - we watched parasailers as we splurged on a grilled salmon and berry salad. I actually bought a glass of wine with lunch which I never do. We finished up with FREE birthday mud pie which we split 3 ways. Then DD and I took a short stroll along the waterfront. Visited with my parents and some relatives for a while at the folks' house. It's family reunion weekend so we'll be having a big shindig tomorrow. Then Lily and I went to a late afternoon movie and saw the new X-Men which was really cool. We went to the theater that has huge leather recliners to sit in. Amazing! Push a button and it slowwwwly moves you back until you're almost laying down.

So much fun - and DH has promised me an overnight trip to Tulalip casino and resort including spa and massage as soon as I can fit it in our schedule. Heaven. Getting older is not so bad. It's better than the alternative.
Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Chickie, Thanks for the tip on calling Sandhill. I might just do that at the end of the month. I remember getting a notice that they will ship when conditions have warmed for my area since they do very poorly in cool conditions. If they don't get here this month though the season will be too short even though I ordered early varieties. I have a place all ready to go with hoops and plastic. I think under the hoops they will be fine. Hmm, maybe call them next week! Gotta get them growing.

Has Illia been on lately?

SO: yes, the crochet hook idea is quite spiffy, although I ran out of wire and then out of light; I should be able to finish it in an hour or so tomorrow morning, if it's not pouring rain.

ETA forgot picture, need to go to bed:

If it's raining I have to finish the weather proofing first.

The girls didn't know what to think about the new set up. It was so funny to see them looking around, making all kind of noise. Like they were saying "who did this?", "Why?". Then they would look at me and keep up the "I'm irritated" noises. I put them up where they were supposed to be and shut the door. Hopefully they get it. CHicken are so funny with change.

One Thousand Dollars for a pair of chickens? Geeze, they'd better lay the egg, poach it and bring me breakfast in bead for a grand!

Very nice looking birds.

I was thinking more like lay GOLDEN EGGS.
