this rounded out my week, I dumped a quart of purple paint I was using to trim the coops with right smack dab in the middle of our patio- scramble to clean it up got most of it with soap and water and a scrub brush. Then 2 days later I was doing my morning chicken chores, turned on the outside faucet and nothing happened so I gave it a good crank......

The frost free faucet broke and we had to turn the water off for the whole house and call a plumber... husband will NOT climb under the house. because we live so far out $450.00 for new faucet--is it made of Gold !!!

I hope this next week will be better for all of us.

Are we related? I didn't do the eye damage, but maybe that's because I was only thrown on to a big pointy glacial rock(1972). My sister, however, has a blown pupil from being kicked in the face by a bull* (1996). And I fell down the steps, myself, and destroyed every ligament in the lateral half of my left leg (2000).






*This sounds worse than it was; luckily the bull caught her at the very furthest extension of his kick and almost all of the damage was to her eye- not good, but better than she thought as she leaned against the chute holding what she thought was her brain leaking down her face but proved to be a big fresh warm bull flop.

CR, If I could do it over again, I would make my secure run 6'. It is 4' and I have to bend over to get at the feeders and waterer. I could take the roof off and the hardware cloth off the top and go up if I really wanted to. Not at that point yet I guess.

But on a good note, I let the young girls, and boy, out with the older ones yesterday and this morning and no bloodshed or feathers all over the place. All seems to be going well so far. I hope it continues. I got rid of my Marans and Black Ameraucana yesterday, they would have been seriously aggressive with the little ones, and the Ameraucana was about to go broody on me AGAIN! Since the guy it going to breed them, hopefully he can use them as the incubator too. Not so sure this guy knows what he is doing breeding wise. But oh well, not my concern. He got most of his stock from a hatchery. And then wondered why his Marans eggs weren't dark brown and his Ameraucana eggs weren't blue. I just said I don't think you know what you are getting when you buy stock from a hatchery. If you get birds from a breeder, or someone who got their stock from a breeder, you can be more assured of having the traits you want. Hope you all are going to get out there and enjoy the sunny weather today, I know I am! I am going to grab a cup of (decaf) coffee and sit out in my deck swing and enjoy! Have a great day all! Hi guys.
My computer connection is slow, and on & off.
I suspect due to crews working to move poles & underground cables getting ready to repair a road slid down the street from us.
Some days we have lightening fast internet, somedays it is slow, or on & off.
In any event, it is frustrating so I will not be on line much in the next few weeks.

See with the weld test it is a matter of pay $125 (for each process) weld a gap closed then cut a slice out and they bend it in half. If there is more than 1/16" tear you fail. Then ya get to pay $125 again and retest. Not an easy test and I have 3 process certs.

Not that it is important and maybe you dont even care to hear it but as a collision repair tech to get your I-Car certification for welding you have to do abotu the same thing. Weld some stuff together. They look at it, do this and that, then tear it apart to see if you pass or fail.. We have to do that every few years. All the other certs have to be retaken periodically as well.​

Is it possible we might have another nice day? Do you guys think I can let the chicks out to free range with the big girls? They're 6 weeks old and currently penned inside the run, separate from the hens. Our back yard spans 3 lots so there is plenty of room for all to free range without getting in each others way. I plan to be be out there with them cleaning the coop and working. Just thought it would be nice if everyone could get some sunshine today since the run is fully roofed.

Got a call this am 2 more swarms about a mile from home. Wentt and looked they will be easy captures and will be doing them about 6:00 am tomorrow. This will only be 9 in 3 weeks. I have to stop now for the year. Out of boxes and comb. And it is getting too late in the season but at least I have many I can combine if I need. Ok now off to a bee equipment sale to see if I can get some real good deals.
