Yeah, I can't wait to get a bigger fenced area in for him so I can let them out more. Besides the predators, I worry about those HUGE roo's going after the kids or each other if I let them free range. Baxter went after DH last night when he went to put the goats in!

That's his baby in my avatar, does that count? LOL!

I get scraps from the produce guy at our grocery every so often, and there is always a few strawberries in them, and my birds will not eat them.
They also refuse to eat carrot peelings, or carrots of anykind, like in leftover stew or soups I give them.
Weird, huh ?
Anyone's chickens eat any kind of carrots ?

Mine don't like carrots, and last year they did not like strawberries, that is why I thought they were safe.

Mine do eat broccoli, the stems too! ... and tomato - they will flog each other for tomato.

Wow!!! Those are some HUGE berries!!

we've got some tiny native ones that have volunteered between the patio stones. Tasty, but too much of an effort to harvest such little things. DD eats them when we are out pulling weeds. If anyone wants some, let me know. They send out runners all over the flagstone. I burn the runners to clear the stones of tripping hazards, so if you want some, I'll pot them up next week before I burn.

I could not get a deep breath till the next day. Thank goodness my grandparents moved from there to TX, then up here, where we can all breath and wear dry clothes.

Silly Putty has been banned from our house for all eternity!!!! I love/ HATE that stuff!!! It's cool to play with but always seems to end in frustration! Never had a kid with it in the hair though.

Speaking of hair...My DD with nice long hair decided to make a swing in a tree with a nylon rope and a chunk of 2x6. She found that if you twist the rope up and then climb on, you can go round and round for a long time. Sadly, her hair got twisted around the rope and she now has 2 bald spots. One the size of an electrical outlet and another the size of a 50 cent piece.
Scary part is, she said it didn't hurt that bad. Makes me wonder about her pain tolerance levels. She didn't even flinch or cry getting her ears pierced.
She only cried when she came in the house and saw the bald spots!

Oh how awful! Poor thing.

Alex also has a very high tolerance for pain. You should have seen his toe last year when he had an ingrown nail! He walked by me on Memorial Day evening - he was going to Science camp with his class the next morning. I took him to the ER had his toe drained of pus, cleaned up, the ingrown nail removed. The Dr. prescribed potenet pain pills and said Alex likely would not be able to got on any hikes. It never slowed him down, and he never took a single pain pill! We just coated it in Manuka honey wrapped it in bandages that he changed once per day with fresh honey. By the time he came home Friday, his toe looked normal aside from the cut nail and some peeling skin.

Too bad hair takes so long to grow back. I hope she finds some ways to style around those bald spots (or proudly displays them!).

We parted it to the other side despite her cowlick and it hid everything! And it actually stays out of her eyes better so it may stay parted that way permenantly.

Same thing in Boston. Got off the plane and felt like I hit a wall! I'm from Cali and thought it was humid, moved here and thought it was really humid. But in Boston, I learned what humidity really was!!!
