What a sweetie! Looks like he's recovering nicely. Seeing that appetite must be a big relief to Daddy; I haven't seen anyone able to eat an hour after surgery!

This is so scary for me to read.
A friend of mine's daughter (24)...had something irritating and painful on her arm - it looked like a bug bite. She went to the clinic..they told her it was a mosquito bite and to go home. The next day it was worse with worse symptoms...she went to the local ER. Local ER said this is too much for us, shipped her to Wenatchee. Wenatchee says this is too much for us...Flew her to Harbor View. The poor girl....it was a bite from a Brown Recluse. She lost her arm (had to amputate it) and she is still in critical condition. A dumb bug bite - itis too much for me to understand how a little spider has altered this young woman's life so dramatically....that is if she even lives.

Wow. Poor kid.

When I was about 7-8 years old I was bit by a recluse. My pediatrition thought it was a staph infection. They couldn't figure out why it kept spreading and not reacting to the treatments... I was finally shipped off to Childrens Hospital in Seattle, had tests run, and it came back a spider bite... The Dr. at Childrens said if my parents had waited another week, I would have lost the lower leg. I still have scars from that. Not fun, and something I hope to NEVER deal with again.

Oh what a sweet little boy! I bet he can be a complete terror though! Im so glad that he is doing so well after surgery, and so soon too! Little ones bounce back amazingly fast. Now hopefully this will be the end of it for him, and he wont have anymore infection. Give him a big hug for all of us when you get to see him!

So. What is everyones plans for the 4th?!

Me and my family are hosting 75 - 100+ people. Potluck, we are supplying two whole roasted hogs, about 3 gallons of BBQ Baked beans "made by me!" Potatoe salad, and a safe place to celebrate! We inda sorta go overboard on the 4th of July. Not only is it independance day, but it is my youngest Brothers Birthday as well! But really, its just another reason to host a gathering, have a great time, and cause a ruckus! 3 of 5 horses have already been taken away for the holliday, the other two will be used for pony rides for the iddos tomorrow, but then will leave at 4PM. Dogs have there stress tablets. Poor things are scared to death. "Remeber I live very near 2 reservations, so lots of BIG booms going off in ALL directions." Tell you what though. Im gonna be warn out come 1AM tomorrow night. Fire works here will start at dar, and will go on until we run out. Big bonfire as well, and a smaller more private fire away from the blast zone.

Anyways! I hope everyone has a great Independance day!

The 4th is DD's 10th birthday and my 14th wedding anniversary. I'm making strawberry crepes for breakfast and in the afternoon we are going to a big party that our neighbors host every year - I love it; we get to join all the fun and skip the clean-up!

Thats awsome Ogress! Happy Birthday to your DD, and a very happy anniversary to you and your DH!

My not so little younger brother "Trey" is turning 12!

Clean up after our 4th celebration is easy. Well easy except for the pots and pans...

Paper plates will deffinately be used! lol All firework casings will be cleaned up on the 5th, and burned. Our neighbors left for Sun Lake, and as they were pulling out of the driveway she told us not to feel bad if the garage burns down!

We had a close call 2 years ago, a faulty morter went out the tube about 12 feet, then went sideways right into their carport/garage. Landed in a styrofome cup full of motor oil, and caught fire!

The fire didnt spread, thankfully, and was put out imediately. Our neighbors would never had known if we hadn't told them the next day. They both laughed, and said we should have let it burn...

Sorry we can't and wont let that happen.

hehe We have lots of July 4th stories. Like July 4th 1999... My mother started having contractions, my sister got hit square in the forhead by a large rocket, and both Mom and Crystal wound up in the Hospital that night... We no longer go into Suquamish on the 4th... That place used to be a war zone. Quite litterally in fact. Four seperate tribes used to square off around this large cement slab, and blow each other up! That got shut down a couple years ago, when I believe 13 people were sent to the ER, and one was a fatality...

So we hold our own gathering, invite anyone and everyone, and make it a safe, free, family friendly event. Well as safe as we can be with explosives anyway... But it only happens once per year, when it is legal to blow things up! lol

Ok bedtime for me... I cant keep my eyes open any longer. DH isnt home from work yet, and Im tired of waiting for him to get home.

Good night all! Have a great 4th! And stay safe!
