My 3 kids too are adopted - they are all siblings. And all 3 were exposed to drugs in utero. We have always talked very openly about drugs and how you easily they could get addicted. But still he tried it. I know at someday he will come around. right now I think he just needs to see what real life is about. Younger kids seem fine with all that is going on...they are doing well. Less stress and pressure to home.

I want to thank everyone for your prayers and thoughts.

ETA: I did this from my cell phone and it does not make sense.

Teresa:
We have two siblings that we adopted. The other is our 20 year old who just had the seizure and nearly died. She was a preemie, probably due to the amount of drugs and alcohol she was subjected to. They both have very typical FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) behaviors that are not easy to deal with. We have three older bio kids, and thought we were pretty darn good parents, until we experienced these two! We adore them, but they are very high maintenance children, and we may never have an empty nest.

BTW, my maternal grandma grew up in Omak, oldest of 6 kids, and lived in an old farmhouse up on the hill above town. Her dad died on that hill when she was 14. We visited relatives there while I was growing up, and now my in-laws live there, just a few doors down from where my grandma grew up. We will probably be over to visit them sometime this summer.

what is the "family" name? Depending on what hill....I live up here on the flats (Don't tell CR where it is....he may come and try to get my chickens...little does he know that I have attack chihuahuas. They are trained to eat you at the ankles)...anyway, if you are over here we will have to try and meet up. Oh, btw.....RFF is my closest BYC neighbor. She lives up above Okanogan (about 30 minutes from me).

Okay, I thought I had better share the black orp photos too. The cockerel is Herman and the pullet is Lilly (yes as in Munster). She still has some white on her wing feather...this is bad isn't it? They are supposedly "exhibition" quality....I got them as some extra eggs when I got my buff orps eggs. They hatched 5/12....so they are 1 week shy of 3 months old. Even if they are not show quality (I Have no clue)...they are nice birds. He is huge...do you see the size of his feet? He does not have much for tail feathers yet. He will make a nice roo for my BRs, BCM, and Matilda the Cuckoo. so here are some photos...let me know what you think (whatever you can tell from a photo):
HERMAN:

Family name was Johnson. My aunt Ruth stayed in Omak and married Willis Hahn. They had three daughters, Carolynn, Sheila and Rosie Hahn, but all the girls moved away and are older than me (and you I am sure). Ruth lived in Omak until a few years before she died. There are also some relatives named Huber.

My in-laws are Eldora and Julius Baker. They live on Nichols Road. Is that the same Flats?

Don't recognize any of the names....I do know some Baker's...not sure if they are related. Nick is approx 18 yo...he is friend's with my oldes son. Huber is also a name that is vaguely familiar. I live on Duck Lake Rd - smack dab between Nichols and Miller. Oh, the winery....it is on Nichols Rd. So yes, Nichols is considered on the Flats.

Now THAT is showing him. I fully support that action Lyn. Besides, you're an active hardworking woman with a great figure who will burn off delicious dessert calories in no time. Go for it!

Susie... what was you grandma's name? My mom's family moved into the Okanogan in the early 1900s. She being the youngest of 9, there were and still are quite a few of my aunts, uncles, and cousins in the area. It's always fun telling her I bumped into so-and-so's kids.

Your Herman looks very much like my "Cocky", (stupid name I know, but I wasn't keeping him.) Cocky is one day younger than Herman, but at 12 weeks is nearly as big as his mother, a huge light Sussex, and I'm sure it's because his daddy was CGGs exhibition black Orpington. He is so gorgeous that I would hate to see him end up in a pot. I have to post some new photos of him. He's such a sweetie. DD and I stroke under his chin and he makes the cutest little happy sounds, then follows us for more. He's very well mannered with all the girls, including the chicks he was born with and the adult hens. I love that guy. I have got to find him a nice home.
