I'm so sorry.

I think the one who got my cat last week is back near the yard - the dogs are going crazy right now, just like they were the night the cat vanished

Well one bright point today, I met Tamara, WA4-HPoultrymom at the fair.
She and her DH were so nice!!
I got to visit for awhile and meet some of her flock.
Great looking birds!
Hopefully we will meet up again soon.

Okay, so i am some 20 or 30 or 40 pages behind as I have not been on in a long-long time.

So, today went to the Waterville (District Fair). Very nice little fair. Met up with the Poultry barn super - who is also the Okanogan County fair barn super - talked with her a bit. Alisha and I did some chicken looking and gandering...did some other barn looking and did some good food eatin'.

I will try and go back and scan pages to see if there is anything I have missed. if it is important = you may want to PM me. It has been hot for the past week or more. and it is staying hot at night.

Big momma racoon was killd in my parent's back yard (they are my neighbors). My dogs are locked up...my parents don't have dogs that run and they have little dogs in a fence yard. I know of no neighboring big dogs...so we have no idea how it died. DH says she probably weighed in at around 20 lbs or more. She either had kits or was getting ready to deliver.

Next bit of news: DH has given over more yard (back yard and lower where no one really uses) for me for my chickens. I need to determine how I am going to use it.....I could put in a whole bunch of individual pens...but the cost is a concern as is housing. It would be for smaller birds (bantams)....so I am going to go on BYC and look at coops that I might be able to build. Problem with the seramas...I have to make sure they are kept warm during winter. so I am not sure waht I want to do...doing lots of "thinking" on paper.

Well, until next time. I will try to read some back posts.

Hey, don't be too hard on yourself. these things happen. Chickens are so resilient in some ways and so vulnerable in others.

I hate to even ask but which girl did he get???? I'm so sorry ! I know you are very attached to your girls!. Last Tues at 10:30am I was up on a ladder and my girls were in the big run. I heard them squawk. and looked up and saw the female Bobcat walking along the fence and into the woods.

My Splash OE from CL.
I am still cursing about it.

I should have been out there! I usually sit outside either in front with them or on my deck swing so I can hear them right away.
I wasn't there!
She died in my arms.

Sometimes a girl has to pee. The bobcat took advantage.

That is a major bummer. Just remember the bobcat may stick around for awhile.

On a happier note, it was so nice to finally meet you today! Always enjoy meeting fellow BYC'ers and talking chicken.

I have a sad note too. We had to put our poor Kelby down last night. I can still hardly talk about it. The fair and meeting Kim today were good distractions, but it's really hard being home without him here. He was really sick last year during the holidays and we never got a clear diagnosis. Then at the end of June he had surgery to drain an infection on his neck. He was losing weight rapidly and at times not getting up when we'd call him inside. They found numerous large tumors all around his stomach area. They couldn't even see his intestines in the 6 scans they took. We honestly were not expecting such a dire diagnosis, so it's been really hard.
