Ahh, I see... Well as it stands right now, I know a couple with young children who are in the middle of a move from downtown Seattle to Fircrest, just a few minutes away from me. I've been told that a coop needs to be built before the chicks can come and live with them and since Whitey is taking such good care of them at the moment, I told them they had at least 4 or 5 weeks. So, provided they are able to get the coop done in good time, the chicks are promised to them. However, if for some reason they find the task too overwhelming so soon after their move, I'd like to have a back up plan for them! I won't know for at least a month or so though...

However, I believe their are a good number of Kaneke's eggs being hatched by another broody here on the WA thread. I don't know if there is a home for them once they're hatched or not. Perhaps they'd be available for sale in a few weeks?

And I was hoping I might get one.

no one wants my BR roo? ): haha

It's tough when you have a likeable roo that you have to re-home isn't it? I lucked out when I found a home for my mixed breed boy. His biggest advantage was his size. His new owner wanted to use him for breeding.
If I hadn't found him a home through BYC, Craigslist was my next option. I've heard even the roos go quickly there, but...

I have LOTS of nice fertile eggs -- LOL -- Dana and her broody just hatched out 6-of-8 (actually 6 of 10 but two of them were inadvertently cracked early on), and Dawn's broody is sitting on nine more ...

anyone want to brood or incubate some more for Suzanne and Helaine ?

my pullets are pretty gold duckwings, and the roo appears to be either silver duckwing with Columbian genes, or silver duckwing with heterozygous Dominant White (I posted pix of the whole flock back a couple of weeks ago)

we'll see for sure (maybe ?? )when Dana's chickies get their true feathers ...

oh, and most likely the whole flock will be up for grabs around Christmas time --- we'll be gone for a couple of months and at this point it looks like there will be no one available to care for them while we're away

I'm guessing there should be more to choose from in a couple of weeks, but I can't speak for them. Good to know there are homes readily available for these cuties though!
