And Ogress, about the kidney thing. No big deal until we know for sure. Anomalies are just that, something that does not match with 'normal' development. At last u/s (26wk), his left kidney got better but right was worse. Just means he may have to have surgery but no long term problems so, Yay.

I hung mine using two of those big heavy black rubber "bungee" cords often used for securing a load, with the sturdy hooks, the top just passed over the pipe I use to hold up the tarp roof .. the two ends hooked to the metal hoop on either side of the plastic carry handle insert (my feeder is a converted plastic dishwash-detergent bucket)

a carabiner on the end of a chain would work ... inexpensive would be those link chains sold for hanging lamps or plants

carabiners are all over the place and cheap ... not the holds-a-human weight, but the Chinese made ones sold for key rings or whatever

you could tie a rope too, but my crazy chickens actually tried to fly up and LAND on my rope (granted it was an old climbing type rope)

I am curious just how that bell sounded. It looks like a totally different type cylinder than I use. Yes big markets mean big money but they also cost a lot to get space and are a long way from home.

I'm wondering how the metal applique would effect the function of the bell; that's the kind of think that can keep the metal from actually ringing!

Exactally. I tried putting a SS hen on one of my bells and the sound went totally dead.

dunno, I did not ring that bell in a store full of people.

And why not I encourage people to ring mine so they know what they sound like. Of course I would never think of doing to draw attention!

Truth be known it is the carbon content that causes the steel to be very hard and have that nice ring to it. An anvil that doesn't have a nice ring to it is barely worth it's weight in scrap. I make anvils from Rail and they are awesome.

I so hate to vent on here. I have a friend that vents to me everyday (sad soul) and after a while it just brings ya down..
But ok I will thanks...

and-- when you vent -- more people can read it than you think -- this is a PUBLIC site, and Google DOES crawl it and cache it

I didn't realize that until I was looking for something using Google, and found my own words popping up, that I hadn't intended to see on the open net ...
