Good grief, have we all been struck speechless with horror, or what?

CR, are you getting smoke from the fire north of Goldendale?

I can't believe someone could be that callus to a living animal! I hope this has a happy ending!

On a lighter note..... I went to this farm out in Fall City and they had chicks! He is still getting some. I got a Black Sexlink, and two Welsummers. I could not help myself! He also had the cutest little donkeys, and ducks and horses! I was in heaven!

Really nice guy and his wife, do tours of their farm and try to educate people on being self sustaining and good to the environment and whatnot. And then there all the cute animals to pet!

I really hope the post office chickens get taken care of! I am going to worry until I know what happened.

Cindy, I shipped some last week to Florida express and they will not guarentee them in 1 day only 2 and mine got lost and I was on the phone 2 days and so was the guy on the other end. It took 4 days and the poor things were about dead. The usps said they would refund 100.00 only if they die and then they did refund the 58.00 shipping. We were so careful and called the usps before, durring and after shipping to make sure they were safe but they were lost in Texas for 2 days and no one even scanned the box. It stinks cause no one ships at all except usps. I called ups and they wont and fed-x ships but only when the usps gives them the birds. Sorry about your trouble.

I like your letter CR. I hope some good comes of it. Those poor chickens stuck in a dark box stuffed somewhere with boxes oiled all around them and their air vents likely blocked; it's just cruel! I would think the USPS would take special care of live animals, but they sound like most airlines.

School has been in session just a little over a week, and we are already being inundated with fundraising crap. Tuesday DD came home with Puget Sound "Entertainment" coupon books that she is expected to sell 5 of (not much stuff in there for North Bend: QFC, ACE and Twedes. Great for Seattle and Bellevue) They have 3 pages listing prizes, but I can't find the dang selling price ... she thinks $25), and then today she came home with the walk-a-thon pledge sheet and a letter that they need to raise $44,000 for the walk-a-thon this year! In the spring thre will be silent auctions for kids artwork, and themed class baskets of stuff parents donate. Why can't they just say they need and extra $150 per kid and accept payments of $50 each trimester instead of hitting us with all this crap? This year will be extra bad because DD goes to science camp in the spring at the Olympic Park Institute and I think that costs about $250. When DS went, I made so many dishes for pasta feeds and bake sales, bought gift cards, valentines cards, wreaths, green gear, butter braids, t-shirts, silent auction crud .... All stuff I did not need. If I had just paid the cash I spent on all that crap (which gets divided equally among all the students going), I could have sent nearly 3 kids to camp! (and I was still approached about providing a scholarship for a less fortunate student, and sucker me, I donated another $50)

At least the middle school asks for the cash up front to be paid the week before school starts along with the PE uniform, ASB cards and such. They have an art fee, a lab fee and club fees. Anything else they need they raise through school dances and such events.

Seriously? Maybe it's because I was the unpopular kid in highschool, but, my mom never did/had to pay money into the school for "fundraisers" and the sort.

Trust me (seriously) if I can cause the US Navy to change thier flights over my area I am pretty sure I can do something about the USPS. But it would be much more effective if several others were to step up and add support. Ladders were built to climb and I have no fear of heights!! I have talked to former Governers aides, I went to then congressman Brian Baird to get dw ssd so yes I am not afraid to go up that ladder and the rest of you should not be either. If they don't know it's broke they can't fix it and the only way they know it is broke is if we tell them. And don't be afraid to remind them that it is tax payers like us that make thier cushy job AND PAYCHECK happen.
Sincerely Rob
