thanks Illia ...

and thank you for encouraging me to find some way to hatch eggs from my flock, to find out just WHAT that rooster is

(and what my pullets are hiding under their common-gold-duckwing appearance)

looks like a lot of silver in there, and Columbian as well

I think after these two hatches ... we can pretty well say that Roopert is not carrying Dominant White

will be exciting to see what Julia hatches out in three weeks or less, since she now has 18 of my flock's eggs; some from each pullet

and two incubators running ... at least I assume she got the second one loaded up yesterday or today

we had a massive power outage here this morning .. power company said almost a thousand were "out", for about three hours -- I was just sitting down at the computer to look at BYC when everything blinked out

huge bursts of winds an hour earlier than that, but it had quieted down ... who knows ? power company wasn't saying what caused it

hope it didn't affect things as far down/across as her place ... (directions are funny around here, seems like we go west and south to get to Olympia but truly it is nearly straight NORTHwest)

thank goodness for Mapquest and YahooMaps

wow, what a great assortment -- and how much they have changed already as they feather out and lose their chickie down

I'm really excited to see how things go

yes, do a lot of handling of the chicks any time you can; it is much harder to socialize them later on (as I found when I let broody mamas on Maui, raise the chicks; you had to trap them, there was no getting near them, not no way)

My big camera, although I am currently down the telephoto.

Six months ago, Panasonic Lumix, and you are within a couple degrees of angle due east of me as far as I can tell:

I am jealous.

LOL...silly. you can have all you want as soon as you move here. They are calling for anothe La Nina winter - meaning lots of snow and cold - at least this is what I have been hearing for our area. And in case no one has answered: I am going to guess that this is Mt. Rainer (?). I know over on the "wet side"....oh that is suppose to be West Side....depending on where they are they may be able to view Mt. Rainer, Mt. Hood, or Mt. St. Helens. My sis in law used to live in Goldendale and her parents had a big picture windows and when the skies were clear you could see all 3 in the distance...it was neat.

BTW: These photos are absolutely gorgeous.

ETA: See someone already spoke up and I was spelling Rainier wrong (left out the second I). Also, with the inlaws...maybe it was Adam not Hood they could see (now that I think about it). All I know is that it was gorgeous.

Goldendale is definitely Mt. Adams. And you can see Mt. Baker and Glacier Peak from some places west of the mountains, although very few for the latter. And the Olympics, of course:

I wore my coat to work this morning. DD is sick. DS was sick last weekend. Oh, the fun. It is so cloudy out I thought for sure we would get rain.

There is something nasty going around right now- I thought I was getting better last night, but I got sicker in the middle of the night and am headachy, ear-achy, and dizzy-with-queezy today.

And I still have to go find a place to tether the sheep!

now you know why I was staying as far away from you as I could, and still be able to understand what you were saying ...

felt lousy all day yesterday, slightly better this morning, but could be the injury to my back ... mostly nauseated

(NOT nauseous .. people misuse that all the time, a nauseous person makes OTHERS feel sick)

and of course sore and awkward, likewise the injured ankle which makes it difficult to take long steps or climb up and down stairs

why I built a three level house, I don't know .. we did make it wide enough for wheelchairs anyway, with provisions to put lift devices in

so will wait to try taking digital pictures until a little later, surely I will be back to "normal" soon ...
