great pictures, Dawn

let's hope you get a plethora of females ... hard to tell from just pictures, but looks like you have SOME with longer tapered tails ... of course it's just an indication, and I have no way of telling if this hatchery deliberately chooses lines that can be feather-sexed ... all I really know is that Roopert was the last to develop tail feathers, and his were stubby and straight-across, while the other six had earlier, longer tail feathers that fanned out in sort of a semicircular way

Illia can tell you a LOT more about EE coloration -- but what I have seen is, quite often the gold-and-brown ones are the pullets, and the black-and-silver ones are cockerels ... but I have also seen black-and-silver pullets, and brown cockerels ....

also watch for the relative thickness of their legs, and to a certain extent their posture ... the little cockerels tend to stand more upright and swagger a bit ...

Oh my, this is so very sad. I feel awful for her BF...I went to school with a girl that was driving when her BF was killed...she never got over it, and had to go through a LOT of therapy just to get through it. What a waste of a beautiful life. I like what the memorial FB page says though..."God just needed an angel, and she fit the picture"...

I am obligated to make dinner tonight, bleaurgh. Just spent ten minutes disentangling Bacchus from the blackberries: he goes along fine for days and then BLAM! He's wrapped in brambles, and it's just like trying to comb the hair of a little girl with a tender scalp to get him free. I need to find one of those canvas sheep coats for him, although it's way too warm for him to wear them now, and I wasn't planning to shear him until March.

Life is so very complicated.

For those curious on the Araucanas -

Here's a blue-gold duckwing pullet, not sure what her destiny is yet

A gold duckwing/BBR pullet, again not sure of destiny.

A golden duckwing cockerel, just now barely getting his red and gold feathers in. He's a keeper so far!

A silver duckwing pullet, she's tailed and available. If it weren't for her tail I'd keep her though - Her mom is excellent and lays the bluest, shiniest eggs around here.

A blue likely cockerel but not 100% sure yet. This one's going, as I'm not breeding blue or blacks. S/he has the same mother as the above pullet. This one is blue because mom is 1/2 duckwing 1/2 black.

A really nice bilaterally tufted one that I might actually let go of.

Got a couple others too but not the best photos of 'em.

And more to come each 21-42 days.

Working on a sheep & cattle ranch in Glide, OR...the jerk had it all in barbed wire.and sheep would get stuck on the wire daily, and stand there and just starve if we did not ride the fence & free them, their fleece thus ruined..........this was a city guy, who got in a traffic accident, sued the city after he was left paralyzed from the neck down, (the city had not proper signage)
So he went on a spree buying land & animals he knew nothing of.........
