We have so many people ordering eggs ahead of time, like the woman today to pick up 2 doz...that we have had to buy store eggs a few times....

But at least we had a coupon for up to 4 doz for 99 cents each!

And then sell our free range multicolored eggs for $3.50.

A started bird being about 2 mo old.
A bird at POL would go for at least $20 here, and if SQ, would be higher.
Feed has skyrocketed!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, I remember that driveway, it tore the dickens out of our exhaust system ....

wish I had the energy to go get the food for you (or bring you some Hot Sour from the Chinese place (Golden Dragon) on the east edge of town here .. not bad though not a patch on the stuffr from that great little place down in Des Moines) but I lack the energy even to go out and check for eggs in the coop, which is like ten feet from the bottom of the steps

DH said he did not find any sunglasses in the car, but he DID find a pair of aqua-framed reading glasses ... he thought they were mine but mine have opaque turquoise frames, not translucent aqua ... Julia, are those your missing reading glasses?

(the only other possibility is that they are Roxanne's .. DS's friend)

No, those are mine; last night I found the sunglasses where the kittens had cleverly hidden them but was wondering where the aqua readers had gotten to; I'm also missing a hot pink pair from that set but still haven't checked all possible pockets yet. I really wish I could take sufficient stimulents to deal with my ADHD but right now the criteria is sufficient that I mostly remember to take my insulin and only forget my night-time pills once a month or so.

I am going for whining really loud and getting Tom Yum Gai for dinner tonight. My husband comes home past several restaurants, and since Monday is a holiday his paycheck was deposited at midnight.

I am also sending messages through time to my late parents, to the effect that "Did you insist on giving the cousin 20% undivided ownership of this property and the better house site because you wanted his kids to harass the cattle and ignore all requests for help when my husband and I were old and in not lovely health? Or is this outcome a surprise to you?"

So, anyway, having eaten leftovers for lunch I now need to go out and deal with the other 80% of my chores, including gathering greens for Elvis, who about gave me a heart attack this morning when I walked out and found him lying contorted on the floor of the Tower of Solitude looking pretty much smashed: he'd dug a foot-deep hole and was taking a comprehensive and hedonistic dust bath and had gotten into a position I normally associate with cats bathing. The young Wyandottes have had Lotus major, red clover, and new green fall fescue, and I'm testing the pallatability of cooked broccoli on the Hamburg ladies and possibly Ian and Sylvia, although I suspect that will be a waste of green.

No, I never gave my kids this kind of catering.

As soon as I noticed more than one Wheaten pullet laying, they ALL stopped!!! All have started molting like crazy. Havnt collected a single egg all week...
