Would you be willing to invest it in one of your kids houses as part of their mortgage? Here is what we do:

My mother was earning about .23% on a CD that is in a trust to go to the grandkids (she has a generation-skipping will). Mom gets the intrest from the tust as part of her income to help pay her living expenses. The bank was charging me an outrageous rate on a Jumbo loan. I talked to mom, we ran it by a lawyer. Now part of my house is in the trust, and will be for my kids when mom passes. I pay mom the minimum federal family loan amount of 2.78% (I think it is slightly lower now, but we set the rate for 10 years a few years back). I qualified for a much better loan since our bank loan is no longer a Jumbo; I think I pay 5.3% on the bank portion of what we owe.

It came out as a win/win. Mom gets more $ to live off of so she does not need to take in a housemate to help split bills, I get a lower loan rate, and ALL the $ stays in the family instead of being paid out to banks. (Mortgage intrest on a family loan is tax deductable for a loan size limited to $100,000. It is legal to loan more however, the mortgage intrest is only deductable on the first $100,000 borrowed.)

These grandkids are babies..so they have no mortgage.

Our kids (their parents) all have excellent mortgages with great rates now (it is down to 4.3% right now)
If the rates flexed, that would be a possibility..but our kids have say as well.
We get over a 10% return on our solar panels

best investment ever!

Is this by Larry Urban or WFF???
Last I heard, Larry Urban has moved all future shows by his new group to the Elma fairgrounds, his last show was there.
The Chehalis Fairgrounds were charging so much that he went elsewhere.
Maybe need to PM him.

I would take a look at Municipal Bonds. They are just as liquid as cash, but pays much much better interest than any savings account.

The way the economy is right now, especially on the municipal level..is super scarey.
I looked up BECU~~~~~~~ on their retirement page they have listed their interest on CDs & IRAs for members & non members, and for members is actually really good.
Anyone can join, too.
One of our kids says her credit union actually is a few digits better than BECU...she says , so we can cash out all the CDs, and send her a check, and she can reopen CDs at her credit union.

I have sent e-mails to them, and am just waitin!

Glad somebody's being proactive!

I've been awake since seven and up since shortly after, on a day I was intending to sleep in and make other people take care of animals while I take care of me; daughter has training at work, so that wouldn't have worked anyway, but the big deal is that I was too blah to eat enough last night and my BG was way low when I got up. I let the dogs out and freaked out briefly, half awake and brain starved, because I couldn't see the Hamburgs until I realized I also could not see the FENCE because it was way extra foggy

My cold has entered that glorious extra-juicy stage where I can't go too far from the Kleenex box, and I've stupidly washed my hair out of itchiness and sleep deprivation. Botheration. Also, I seem to have inadvertantly broken Malvina-used-to-be-Ruby the Australorp of broodiness, and I will know tomorrow if the eggs in Deirdre's incubator are going to hatch, which: what then with the chicks, oh, dear? Need to go to Dels today, no doubt about it.

Taking C, D, A, Echinaea, and Mucinex (blessed, blessed Mucinex) and also wearing my official take-care-of-my-throat scarf, a grey silk-and-cashmere one that's gotten ratty over the long years since I bought it for 85% off when my default clearance-rack store was still The Bon Marche. Will also be wearing a ridiculous crushable burnt-orange wool hat and an extra sweater when I go outside.

Definitely time to go out and check if the outside is still there: the Sober Harley Riding Veterans just roared by after their weekly Saturday morning meeting.

My hyper-active immunal system will go crazy sometimes and attack my sinuses & nasal-pharengyl passages so as to give me what feels like raw strept throat all the way from nostril to belly button
lol.png

Often it has completely closed off my airways by tonsil swelling, could barely swallow.
During these times, a steroid is in order, if not for just a 3-5 days period to calm the auto-immune reaction down.
It is not germs that get me, it has always been me , that is getting me.
Taking sinus sprays & meds do me, if anything, more harm.
I use sea-salt (saline) nasal spray ONLY.
I have an Rx for inhalated steroid, which calms the immunal hyper active airways & nasal inflammation.
I do a snort every few days, and all is well.
Taken everyday, the steroid could STOP all immunal reaction, and then I would get sick from germs.
Maybe you have a hyper active auto immune reaction as well?

had a meatloaf from your cow last night, wonderful lean GB!!
But so sad for your cow...

margo told me the story of how she would test posi but not carry a calf..
