The Swedish Flower Hens are another landrace fowl and were only imported into the US last year(2010). They are supposed to be excellent layers of light brown eggs. Their personalities are their best attribute if you ask me. They are SO friendly and curious - absolutely my favorite chickens. All the different colors and the crests are a bonus.

Wow. Just looking at the auctions and there are some silkie eggs that are going WAY high. They're pretty silkies, but I'm wondering why 12+ eggs would be so pricey? Silkies are not necessarily rare are they? I see there is a chance you could get some paints. Could that be the reason?

And yes, once again it was a great disapointment.
There was only 1 American class bird, and to my surprise, a mottled Java hen, which was almosy completely black and only had a few white spangles on SOME of her feather ends.
She did not apear to me to have yellow soles either, but being the only entry, she will at least get BB, BV.
There were Black Australorps...no other Americans.
No RIR, No Buckeye, NO java, no NH, NO Dellies, none.
Lotsa bantams, in every breed, and lotsa ducks, but hey, this is so close to Oregon.

We were there from about 10 to 1.

Darn it! I WAS THERE!!!!!
We got there about 11:30-12 and left about 1:30, stopped by Bridge of the Gods, then went to the Bonneville dam visitors to watch the salmon run.
Went all over looking for Toni before we left, no sign of her anywheres.
I asked everyone "You see a woman with a black duck on a leash come through here lately?"
Everyone pointed to the parking lot, so I guess she left before me....didn't get to say goodbye to her & Daffy Duckles

Oh, and I wanted to correct myself about hardly any Americans at the show.
There WAS ALOT of Dominickeres, wether they were hatchery (most likely) or not, I am not certain.
It is suspect they are hatchery as there was alot of them there, which is a rare breed.
Other than that, we gotta go visit with parents today, have a barbie with one of our processed meat birds and the 5 pound bucket of bean/jalapeno/olive/onion/crema agria/velvetta/diced green chili dip I made yesterday to have at the show, which we did not touch~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And so far, the friend that asked for a silkie pullet is nowhere to be found, and maybe does not want this bird after all.
Funny, silkies are so strange!!!

You will see Sokane, go north & see newport, now just a bit more north & west-ish you will see Cusick, more north you see Metalline falls/Ruby area.

We got our first white egg today. Probably from Lulu, the beardless Brabanter. It was tiny, but they should get bigger.
