Oh you guys are too funny.
We were just sitting on the porch..that is our deer blind, next door which is our neighbor's place & he is moving out...he gave us permission.
So we just walk home, got the lawn tractor with a trailer on it...sheesh, we are too old to pack out quarters on our backs!!
Butchering is no biggee either, just like a rabbit or goat.
I worked at Safeway Meat Dept for years so I know my cuts.
This one is going to go 2 full fore quarters to jerky..drag out the Excaliber Dehydrator again...I have put it away 2 X so far this fall thinking I was done.

Fun stuff: http://contest.photo-contest.us/pocf?u=true

Now
I have sat for a while here...

tell him to get a dog squeaky toy -- sounds a great deal like a game-calling device that fools predators into thinking a rabbit is squealing

for some reason it also causes deer to come see what is happening

I was trying to call coyotes, but instead what showed up ?? three ravens and an elk !

Do you have an alarm on your car? We had a guy scouting deer at the top of our driveway....on the county road...he was just annoying. So I'd make sure & set off the truck & car alarms randomly, throughout the day....deer don't like the sirens and honking horns.

LOL..................Deer do not like honking Pea Fowl either!!!!!!!!

That kind of hunting is called "driving" and it highly illegal.
You need to call the F&W line.
You CANNOT drive a herd from one property to another where you can then legally shoot it.
You cannot shoot a firarm in your type neighborhood, that is why they drop a guy off above & drive the herd down to a place where they CAN shoot it.
It is driving, and it is illegal.
You are supposed to pick a blind, get permission in a sfe area to discharge a firearm, and then you sit in it & waite.
Same for Elk.
Alot of guys team up on Elk, and drive them with quad-runners to the area where they can legally shoot.
It is illegal to do so!
Report it to Fish & Wildlife!
Alot of hunters get desperate now, last day is the 31st........
And ALL hunters MUST wear a safety orange vest & usually a cap.
NO hunter can legally hunt in just camo.
Get a license # if you can, and call F&W!!!!!!!!

I have alot of Buckeyes, fertility test & birds to increase my flock & a few will go to people that have asked.
A few OEs bred back to the Cuckoo Marans Cock..(2nd genearation) should be barred/cuckoo'd birds laying a dark olive egg.
I have some 1st generation OEs also.
Then a bunch of meat birds, Dark Cornish Cocks over White Rock hens for now.

Just had to share this. Some of you met my friend Phyllis at our South Sounders meeting at the wine shop. She will occasionally cook an oatmeal breakfast for her girls and I'm guessing she left the back door open this morning after she let the ladies out of the coop, and posted this photo on Facebook a few minutes ago. Can't blame them, it was a bit chilly this morning!

mmm--- if you are shooting black powder (muzzleloaders) and it is muzzleloader season and a location approved for that ... you can wear camo
[ditto for bowhunting (archery) ]

which is why I do my hunting during those times; I hear too many people talk about "a great sound shot" .. so I avoid "modern firearm" season and areas, like the plague

especially good when you win one of the special areas, when you are the ONLY hunter allowed on that piece of property; often this is a tree farm so the deer have been browsing on fir seedlings, makes for a nice tasting venison

luckily we are in a no-shoot area here (in some ways lucky anyway) so no one will be shooting my chickens "thinking" they are turkeys

the deer come out and stand at the end of our access, thumb their noses at us, since they know we cannot shoot them here
