She is a doll, but dont let those long blonde curls and that angelic expression fool you! She's a little devil just like her daddy!

Cheryl...you had better start shining up the baseball bat and/or shotgun and lay it against the front door. you are going to need it for all the boys that will be visiting your house....that baby is adorable. She is so cute. Oh my gosh...you are going to have your hands full. With my boys...I tried the whole..."girls are icky"...now that they are older..."girls are too expensive". Yep, that isn't working. They don't listen to me.

But anyway...you dd is really cute.

lol Yeah I already know we're in for a wild ride with her! Im just afraid that the boys around here wont be able to handle her. She has my attitude thankfully!

Can't have roosters so close to neighbors. My coop is 30ft from the neighbors house let alone their bedroom. We are mobile homes on small lots/ 1/2 acres. My RIR's have been pretecting themselves by pecking at my dogs. So I think this hen went to protect & she got it. I did find my other RIR in the coop by herself so I think one protected the other so the other could run for cover. My guess anyway. I did want to get down to an even number of birds for the winter, 9 down to 8 by rehoming 1 but I didn't want it that way.

My poor hens are mad at me. Pacing in the coop wanting out in the yard. The chicken tractor we built last yr needs a tarp for a top & its not easy to move around even though its made of pvc. We're gonna have to come up with something though as they want out.

I pulled into my drive yesterday just in time to see some small bird of prey (falcon or hawk) hit the top of my bird netting that I have over the pens...I am so glad I do now. He went and sat in the tree next to the pens. Swooped across the pens one more time. I got out of the truck and let out a war hoop...it took off. My birds were all spooked.

Oh wow! The temperature just plummeted! Went from 47* down to 38* in about 30 minutes. Raining big heavy cold drops! And my sister is out riding her horse in it! I'm NOT playing with horses in the rain! Its bad enough I still have to go to work in the stuff this afternoon!!!

Oh well at least I got the paddocks and stalls picked up. Plus more sand put down in the low lying areas.

now i know how the runt of chicks feels when its picked on.....

i am a bit envious that you guys can even take Vicodin.... i am borderline allergic. if i take any codiene family or vicodin or oxy.... i get really sick. always have to take with an anti-nausea that starts with a Z.... but even then the side effects return after 4 days... then sick. I don't remember being "high" just very productive.... as stupid as it was i planted the garden in 3 days before i got sick.... otherwise the pain killer + anti-nausea = me sleeping on the couch all day with the dogs.

anyone have ideas on what regulates the body's internal thermostat? i think mine is broken.... or also if anyone knows how to improve circulation in hands and feet i am out of ideas. my profusion index is .10-.8 on a good day. i am tired of cold feet (wears smartwool socks, even in summer)

ReiMiraa, I was wondering if you'd had any luck getting CL's Cougar Gold. I know that Ferdinand's has wonky hours, we've been shut out of there at the oddest times. I had better luck picking up various flavors of the Cougar cheese over at "Crimson and Gray" right off of Bishop I think? It's next to a hotel, can't recall which one although I stayed there last year. My DH is going to be headed over there next weekend for Dad's weekend, I might see if he and DD can pick some up if they have a spare minute. I might have a better chance of getting it to CL since I'm a little closer...

Could be that your thyroid isn't working properly. That was my main symptom with my thyroid. Could never get warm, frozen hands and feet.

Justbugged and Stumpfarmer, can I ask you to describe your pain in more detail on your hip bursitis? I think I may have this. I can go for awhile and it is fine. Than it flairs. A dull constant pain and then shooting twinges right in the joint. I can totally feel the ball rubbing in the socket and have to move. I can not stay in the same position when it starts shooting and twinging. It has kept me awake as well if it's going on at night. I find it hard to get comfortable. This has been going on for the last 2-3 yrs and is getting worse. I went in two years ago for x-rays because something was tweaked in the hip. I could not lift my leg up to tie my shoe. It just would not go. When I went in for the xrays she put me in unbearable positions, but the next day the tweaked whatever was fine, and they said my x-rays were clear. But the flairs are worse now. So I think it's time to go back. I was diagnosed with JRA in middle school, but it only affected my knees for 2 yrs, and luckily I never had any more issues with it, but I worry that arthritis is lurking out there and gonna get me!! LOL! I've also been diagnosed with bursitis in both shoulders, but those flairs are very few and far between.

ReiMaria your blood pressure has a great deal to do with getting chilled easy, I have low blood pressure which is fine in the summer as I am cool when many others are hot but its the converse in winter, I am chilled when most others are fine, so I wear many layers from now til warm spring. Its gotta be.

I suspect you have low blood pressure, that goes with the cold extremities, in fact it causes it.

Have you ever been checked for Raynauds?

Yeah, I have low blood pressure too. Never thought to attribute it to my coldness! Makes sense though.
