My God Jeannine, I have been praying for a BYC FIL...now I will pray a bit more specific. This is awful.
I am glad he is still with you. Very scarey. I hope that your DS is doingg okay, this can be heavy on a kid. I also hope that your DH is okay, witnessing his father hurt like this.

How long has it been since he was over White? It's been much improved over the years.

it has been years. He is very much a gloom and doom. Always using words like: can't or won't or never work or never happen. I do stuff just to prove him wrong he makes me so angry at times. Mr. Downer.

I am still planning on trying.

I have a guest room if coming over I-90 would work better for you.

thank you for offering.

Also, thank you to Ogress.

I am not bringing any birds at this time (don't yet have any to show) but DD will most likely be coming with. I really hate to impose...but thank you for the offers and let me see what I can put together. I may take one of you up on this.

Good luck.

can I give some advice:
Are you FSBO...meaning your home is not listed by a real estate agent...you are selling yourself?

Let the real estate agent do the work. If you can...leave the room, walk outside. Let the potential buyers look around. Be there to answer questions...but stay out of the way so they do not feel like they can not feely speak to their agent or to themselves or each other.

Not trying to be rude....and I deleted other comments as it was sounding like I was being rude....but...anyway.....

...buyers can be intimidated by sellers standing around....but onthe other hand...it is nice to have the sellers there to ask questions to and have immediate answers.

Good luck. Try not to hover....be relaxed....bake cookies or bread. Smell up the house with it. Anything warm and cozy.

If I go - it will be over and back on the same day. If you get to Yakima, you can thumb a ride. ( I said IF )

Thank you for the offer. I will just play it by ear at this time and will see what happens. But thank you. I trust my driving and I know how to drive in the snow....it is the idiot in the other lane coming at me that worries me.

I am maybe not the best person to ask about White Pass, because for me it was as much a regular route as the one between here and Copalis: we lived in Eatonville, and then Yelm, and then Lacey, and my mother's favorite sister lived in Tieton. And we always went via Elbe, so the bad news curves at La Grande were the worst part of the trip (they're slightly improved these days, too, but still my most disliked piece of road near here) and the steep bits just west of the summit weren't so bad, really, although they do contain a lot of down. My daughter's "other mother" in Montana got on US 12 to go to Westport every summer of her youth, and went over Lolo and White, and feels the same as I do about White: steep, some curves, but really worth it.

The other, important, thing about White in winter is that unless Snoqualamie is closed for a whole day it's mostly free of amatuer snow drivers and there are not a whole lot of semi trucks throwing slush on your windshield. Less traffic over-all. The couple of times I took White instead of Snoqualamie when I was at WSU I was especially struck by the difference, because White did not contain the hoards of WSU students going to Seattle too fast and insufficiently sober (I hear the last thing has vastly improved; I can only hope). Traffic is mostly skiers, either really serious ones or ones from close-in who drive White all the time. As you said otherwhere, if you know how to drive in the snow, you have to worry about the other drivers: White has fewer in general, and a much smaller fraction of those are inexperienced snow drivers.

And I'm the disaster meister in my family so there is that.

I need help finding a good dog............do you know anyone who has one ?

I wish I could help, but all I have are very bad dogs. They so bad that I put an ad in the Seattle Times for a month this round. I at least the two younger puppies to go live in non chicken, cat, or other little beaties type homes.

Thank you. Yes, DS is doing good with it. He knows everything I know. We have been very up front and honest with him from the beginning. He knows that we almost lost him for good, and that we are lucky to have him with us still, and that it's going to be a long road to recovery. DH has been having a hard time, after we almost lost his gpa last year, and now his dad. The annual family elk hunting trip has always meant a lot to him, they've all been making that trip together for 18 years, and he is having as hard a time with the trip possibly never happening again as he is with everything else. The area they go to means a lot to him, and I know it sounds odd, but I think he is grieving for that nearly as much as anything else. We took "one last drive" around the area Thursday evening, and he saw one elk...it was almost like a sign...it was really something to see the change in him just seeing that one animal...

I just spoke with DH a few minutes ago. FIL had a really good night, and made it through surgery #1 a whole lot better than the drs expected. The facial surgeon said that he thinks he can get everything else done with just one more surgery. That's a WHOLE lot better than 2-4 more surgeries!!! Whew! The prayers are working!!! Keep 'em coming!!!
