I really really hope he's okay, and it all goes through well.

Just letting people know, the decision is finally made on what chickens here are going. I have someone who may transport some this weekend up to Tacoma, and someone else who may transport some up to the Kenmore area in the soon future.

I have 1 Black Copper Marans pullet, 2 Black Copper Marans hens, 1 Blue Wheaten Marans rooster, 1 Araucana hen, 2 Araucana pullets, 2 Polish hens, 2 tufted Araucana roosters, 2 Coronation Split Sussex hens, 1 Marans x Polish rooster, 1 Easter Egger pullet, and 2 Wheaten Ameraucana hens.

If you want pics or more info, let me know.

I'm setting prices to be $30 each hen (Araucana pullets, Polish, EE pullet, and BC pullet are $15 each) and $20 each rooster.

Thankfully I can keep the Buffs, the Polish, and the Shamos as well as a couple laying hens. Nothing more.

I just possibly maybe might have a chance at getting back to breeding more again in the future; they're thinking the Araucanas soon again. I've still got a couple young cockerels that are so far staying, we'll see if they'll stay past 6 months old.

Wow! Those are sooo pretty! You did a fantastic job on them! Do you ever do any other colors schemes?

This is the first year I've done them. I was thinking in terms of that blue green you see in ice bergs and glaciers, so they're all silver, white, blue green, and crystal. I did one set in just silver, white, and crystal that turned out really pretty. If I do them again another year, I might do different colors.

edited to remove duplicate posting; BYC's server momentarily glitched

I'm tempted to put together a "pallet coop", temporarily, to house my "grandchick" cockerels .. since I am getting quite annoyed with Roopert ... maybe his offspring will have nicer manners when they mature .. looks like Dana, Dawn, and Julia all need to rehome the boys from the eggs they hatched

trouble is, from what I understand, each of the three batches will need to be housed separately for the first 30 days .. while I have only one usable coop at the moment

DS's electronic gizmo won't let him go to the end of the chicken run, and the quarantine coop(s) would need to be further away than that, so it would have to be something I could assemble myself -- or have delivered, since our utility trailer is the small kind, 3-1/2 feet x 7 ... also I don't trust the Trooper's transmission far from home

I may need to take the tire iron/wrecking bar over to DS's work, and take some of their surplus pallets apart --- would love to transport them still assembled, but they won't go in the Yaris, and the roof is too curved to put them on top

I'm hoping that the little cockerels could stay in their current domiciles until we get back from Whistler just after Thanksgiving ... I could supply feed if that is the problem ...

yeah, I lust after some of Illia's chickens too ... would love to have even bluer eggs than the ones Deirdre gives us ...

wouldn't be that much of a problem if I could just put the chickens all in the current coop and run together, but I understand it's necessary to wait 30 days to do that
