i dont want to loose them and yes thats alot of money but i am invested into these things emotionally and just dont want them to die.
thankyou.
Well, today much progress was made- we got the storm window made for the south side of the Wyandotte coop, although I need to figure out how to get the eye screws I need to hang it and still get cleaned up and to a birthday party at 5pm tomorrow- and got a huge piece of 6ft wide 1" mesh chickenwire cut and wired on to a chunk of old cast iron drainpipe to anchor it in the ground. This goes up and over the roof tomorrow, and then the walls will get their first layer of wire; I'm seriously considering cleaning the building materials out and putting the chickens in and THEN putting the cage wire at the bottom of the outside, because at this point I'm more worried about giving them more room and better weather protection than keeping the vermin out (especially since raccoons could get into Ian and Sylvia's current residence anyway). The Hamburgs got some increased insulation and a better roof- drainage set up, although that came with a bonus giant barbed wire scratch. And everything got mint seeds and greens and lemon balm; I'm still contemplating the whole sprouts thing for them.
I had a chance to check out the patterns my cousin's chickens are making free-ranging in the orchard: they're getting all the good mushrooms before the squirrels get to them, all the apples the cattle step on, but weirdly enough only take chickweed when it comes into bloom. I walked right into the middle of the flock yesterday while they were eating- the blue-bearded OEGB/EE cross cockerel had a fit and ran off to the fenced run, but the others sort of looked at me like "what do you want?" and went back to scratching. Of course I didn't have my camera.
X3- I don't respond to many posts but I am reading them and when I read on here that a fellow byc friend is having troubles my heart goes out to them and I pray things get better for them and their family and friends.Good luck and God bless!!

I'm no help - too far away and don't know how - but is there an emergency vet you can go to and get help? Here is a 24 hour vet in Vancouver http://stfrancis24hr.com/ good luck!!!
Hi there! so sorry about your chickies!! I'm sorry I live too far away, but have you read the byc threads about treatment?? Here's a link https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=452942&p=1 oops not sure why it didn't come up? I did a search on here, and they recommended this link, I personally put bleach in my chickens water. WSU has specific amounts to use. I haven't had any problems. If they need antibiotics I'm sure they have some that go in the water. I understand your emotional attachment, I love my chickens too! I hope you can find someone closer to help you!!
I let my chickies out for the first time today! Pretty exciting. It was only for maybe 20 minutes, and most of them stuck near the coop. Then we poured feed inside, and they all came running back.
I sure hope this coop I am getting tomorrow turns out to be good. See I went to hook the flat bed truck to the trailer and I hear this all to familiar sound. I opened the hood to find just as I suspected. The Alt belt was worn and jumped off tangling around the fan.
So I hook the pick up to the trailer and back in the drive way. Check lights ok kick tires thump thump thump thud DANG that ones flat. I think I an set it just means that I will be limited how many I can haul. With the trailer I will be limited to 3.
