Yes, and it puts a big smile on my face to see that photo of her.

Forgot to mention - The Araucana pullets I sold, those girls are 3 months old, not 2.

I hope all the girls settled in well, and all work out for everyone. Now I'm just trying to make sure my boys go to good homes, because they're honestly what I will miss most.

I wish your time of need had come along with a time I had surplus housing instead of a deficit.

I have to keep reminding myself that I spent the late spring/early summer nursing a broken rib, and not being able to lift, stretch, or bend- otherwise I just kick myself around the houses for being generally incompetent, despite the evidence to the contrary I've surrounded myself with.

Why is it so much harder to forgive ourselves than to forgive others?

Found out at the Birthday Party (caps, as 50th birthdays are a big deal) that the little cockerels I thought were half EE and half Teeny Little Superguy are instead BWABs, so the striking blue beard on my favorite of my cousin's motly flock is less surprising.

Of course, he's bought hatching eggs and straight run chicks and has a ludicrous number of cockerels, and I may yet end up with one of the little boys- who are not, in fact, so little, being about twice the size of the OEGB rooster and just a little smaller than the EE hens.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out which way to jump this morning; I'm going to put some sweet potatoes in the oven so I can give them to all the adult chickens for their afternoon feeding but I need to do some major cleaning for the Hamburgs and then give them a nice dry dust-bathing area, also build some sort of chick-proof shower curtain and move the larger five chicks to the bathtub, since they're regularly escaping their bin. Feed everything, tether the sheep somewhere not covered with nasty fallen leaves (neither plum nor oak are good for sheep at this point, plum is OK after it's dried to crunchiness, though- oak never, the tannic acid kills kidneys) and oh, yeah, I need to wash sheets, and at least two other loads of laundry.

Oh, yeah, again: I have a quarter of beef coming in this afternoon, so somewhere on that list "clean freezer."

I think because we know better. We know we should not do that..eat that...behave like that...etc. I am the same way....although I carry a pretty good grudge - which I know is not right and right there is something I have to work on.

HOW WONDERFUL!!!!! Thank GOD!

Yes! The doctors were amazing, but having him survive three cardiac arrests with no apparent permanent heart damage....that's God's doing. (Yes, it's 3 total arrests, I had originally said 2, but I found out yesterday that he arrested a 3rd time during the flight from La Grande to Portland).

Waking up like that has got to be shocking for him.

Yeah, DH was really worried last night after everybody went home that FIL would wake up and none of his family would be there. I have only texted with DH this morning, so haven't gotten to ask if the nurses said if he woke up during the night at all. Luckily he's on HEAVY pain meds, so he's "awake" but not really alert enough to panic I don't think...

After DD's birth, I went in for a D&C and woke up to a nasogastric tube (among others) and news that a lot more happened than had been expected. I was surrounded by hospital staff. Of course, they had an idea when I was going to wake up. But I imagine staff would be keeping a close eye on your FIL as well.

Yeah, he has a NG tube also, amongst several other tubes, wires, etc. When DH left last night they had FIL in arm restraints so that he wouldn't reflexively rip out his trach tube when he woke up, but his bed is in direct line of sight to the nurse's station.

I've been quite amused by the antics of the Grady Taylor cockerel I won. The hen is cute too, but he's just full of beans! Every single time I pick him up he starts crowing his fool head off.
