P.S. the OEs will have feathered shanks, and at maturity (pol) have a bit taller points on their comb than a regular Am.

The roos are posted on page 5688. It took me a bit to find them again. We have been very chatty tonight.

I LOVE ELMA!!!!!!!!
Excellent Fairgrounds & a way much better price!
My Mother is in the Satsop Fiber Guild, and usually they have their fairs at Shafer meadows.but it has grown and Schaffer is a gated community & some residents complained about cars lining the roads & "strangers" in the community.
So Scaffer Fiber Guild has moved to Elma Fairgrounds as well.

Puyallup FG will cost a fortune this club cannot afford!

see how that works? Elma is closer to you, Puyallup is closer to me...so guess which one I like better? but it doesnt matter, I am not a club member so therefore what I want has no bearing, but I can wish it were in Puyallup because it benefits me

The building rents at Puyallup are painful.

Well we discussed it all the way home and talked about all the towns we had gone through and all the ones we could remember. I don't remember Ethel (would make a great name though)...DH tells me that Ethel is a Sh** hole outside of Morton...this is how he describes things to me. Tell me things like "remember that a** h*** in Twisp"....my response: "I know a lot of AH in Twisp...you are going to have to narrow it down"...LOl.

I will have to keep Ethel on the list for later birds. Elma (even though we did not go through it) would be a good name too.

Hey Ethel gots ta be a good place dats where I roost. If yer DH said out side of Morton he must be thinkin of Glenoma. That is on the other side of fern gulch and ya dang sure don't wanna be up there after the sun goes black. See Ethel is tween Salkum and Spiffy's.

Sorry, I didn't see anything to be afeerd of?? NOW..... SUNNYSIDE WA !!! That's where you DON'T want to be when the sun goes black!!! I'm just sayn!!!

I can sooooo relate. If mine doesn't GET IT he never will. He's got a city brain, not wired for the country. Even basic country/farm stuff eludes him.

Check horse.com . They sell an off brand concentrate super cheap. I use it on horses, chickens, dogs and plants.

Which reminds me of the time I left him to feed the horses one evening while I took a break with friends. The next morning I went out to feed only to find the wood divider between stalls a chewed up mess. Come to find out DH forgot to feed that night. He said, "no big deal, they would live til morning" Another time I went out in the AM and found several bags of shavings chewed thru and eaten. The horses had leaned over the fence as far as their hungry necks could let them and chose to either eat shavings or starve! He makes me want to SCREAM! Thats why I never want to spend the night at a chicken show or anywhere else for that matter. I will take care of my own animals THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I think our DH's went to the same hubby school. I was up until 3 cleaning up a mess DD had made (stomach bug going around here) and then I started my laundry so I would have something to wear to work this morning. I asked DH if he could get up at 6 and make sure DS got on the bus at 6:30 and please transfer my clothes to the drier as I wanted to sleep until 7 am. Well, DS did get to school, and DH did transfer my laundry to the drier, but he did not turn it on! Nothing like waiting until the last minue to get up only to find your clothes are still all wet!

Well I don't mean this bad but IF it was Alex He is a very big young man and could probably take care of that plate of goodies.

the one I saw loading up on sweet goodies, was probably between 8 and 10 --- slightly chunky and not getting that preteen growth spurt yet ... he grabbed that good pea-and-seafood salad, then took something like six or eight pieces of baklava, and about as many each of the fudge pieces

Makes me feel relieved to know I don't have the only kids who do that!

The show was fun. I'm looking forward to Monroe.

And I might add, the best way to succed, is to have enough land to raise the feed for your animals.
When you have to BUY the feed, you are loosing money.

Absolutely. One of the reasons we're still farming is that we have hay that gets fed to cattle and pigs (that's ground with grain). I'm trying to come up with some small grain or pulse I can grow on the well-acre for chicken feed/supplement next winter. Although I suspect, from the way they buzz through mint, lavender and lemon balm seeds, that I maybe should just cut the invasive oregano and feed that.

Well, providing I didn't get too big, I have enough pasture to raise pastured poultry and goats. I could grow grains for them too! I was just perusing the WSU site on small farms and they have a TON of information!! Also, I think I'm going to sign up for the Women in Agriculture seminar Feb 11 2012, it's a simultaneous seminar in 15 locations in WA. One of which will be in Kennewick!!
