I don't think there *are* any wires going to the shed, unless they could be underground. That's why I thought maybe they once attached at that outside point on the shed (in pic). I don't see any wires going through the air to that shed.
A lot of times when an inspector red-tags wiring in an outbuilding, the cheap and easy way to get into building code compliance is to cut the incoming power wire, so that's probably what happened- I'd be willing to bet the last time the property changed hands, or when the house was rewired to modern code.
We have 2 sheds, we wired the far shed , it is not to code, and the shed is flimsy, but looks nice. We have a panel heater on a thermostat there, and that shed is the Dog House with an attached dog run. I would have given the dogs the entire yard and brought them in the house at night, but Shasta digs and chews everything! I also feel sorry for Shasta when she is indoors as she seeks cold. Willow loves warmth, so she sleeps by the heat panel and Shasta usually chooses the outdoor dog house to the heated shed, though she can access
both. Shasta almost caught an EE today, bad dog! She was behaving so well, so I stepped into the house for a moment when I heard a rucus, and she was chasing an EE! Can't turn your back for a moment with that dog!
My chicken coop is the second shed, and it is STURDY and very well built we have solar lights inside, and we installed 4 outlets that are activated by plugging in an extension cord to the outside of the building. I have not heated it this winter. When the weather turned cold, the Barnies, who had owned one of the Eglu Cubes and my EE's decided to move from their tractors into the big coop. All chickens forage the yard together in the day time and all had returned to their own coops at night until the weather got chilly. Now there are 30 chickens in a 10X12 coop!It does not get very cold in there. I wonder what they will think of their living quarters once the big snows come and they are stuck in the coop and covered run with each other for a week or more at a time? 350 square feet in 4 rooms for 30 chickens! I wonder if the 3 roos in there will still get along?
