ugh -- not looking forward to this day

gotta tidy the house (somewhat) since DS #2 and DGD Hailey will be here Sunday

DS is happy to watch football all day with us (both DS's actually, after DS #1 gets back from his AA meeting)

but Hailey, who is 11-1/2, will probably be bored stiff, so I had the bright idea to go get a Christmas tree and let her decorate it

got ornaments, oh my do we have ornaments !

back a few years ago, I completely decorated an EIGHTEEN foot tall tree, since we have 19 feet from floor to ceiling in the great room

both DS's are tall enough to put lights all the way up the much smaller tree we'll get this year (or possibly I'll get an "outside" tree for Hailey to decorate Sunday) as well as one inside for later on -- we have a bunch of boxes sitting where the tree would normally go

and I still need to get to Enumclaw to pick up Eprinex, to Tacoma to get the roo I promised Dana I would adopt, and somehow get up to Dawn's to get the pullet .... which means I also need to finish up the modifications to the crate coop, since I discovered it is NOT rainproof after all ... and it needs roosts and windows and a pop door cut in the people door

oh me, all I want for Christmas is some EN-ER-GY ......

It's not?

When I set up my profile I just glanced at the time zone choices and choose the one with"PST" in it.
My time has never been correct and with CL's post "where is everyone" I noticed again and went back.
Do we need to choose based on our relationship to GMT?

edited to add: or perhaps I should remember to hit "submit"
oh, such a dummy!

At 6:42am I am, at this particular point in my life, most likely asleep. Today was one of those days.

I have to get dressed and water chickens, feed the young Wyandottes and tether the sheep out for a couple of hours, and then when DH is fully awake and stuffed with sufficient painkillers to make it that far, have my one day of Christmas shopping, somehow.

Never have I more wished my sister drank alcohol or wore earrings (ETA: or read for amusement).

get her a special book on Amazon dot com

Doesn't read for amusement. Doesn't use their computer, ever. Doesn't have time to watch dvds, doesn't wear fancy clothes, or sweaters, or any number of things. I got her a spading fork for her birthday.

Last year one of our cousins got her a Trader Joe's gift card for Christmas: it took her until July to get from Lacey to the Westside to spend it, and then she had to check out before she was done because her husband needed her to go to Chehalis for bale wrap.

Just popping in real quick for a short visit! So busy lately!

We candled last night on day 10 and have 2 little bantam Faverolle eggs growing!

We also have some of our own eggs growing too, 4 BLRW and 5 Serama!!! Getting excited to have baby chicks in the house again!

So my oldest DD and youngest DD signed up to be the Community Service Chair for our 4-H club. Never did I imagine it would be so much work for ME!!! Delivered 100 lbs of food to the Food Bank on Monday. Today or tomorrow I have to go drop off a car full of toys/clothes at the Lake Stevens Family Center where we as a club adopted a large family for Christmas. Then we had organized Christmas Caroling at Top Foods in Snohomish on Sunday afternoon and followed that up with our Club Awards/Holiday Party that evening. Saturday was our Poultry Group meeting and we have two more new familes, so we are up to 10 kids in the project now with 7 familes. So the group is getting too big to rotate houses. I have to research using one of the local granges as our meeting place.

Then I started seeing a Chiropractor last week for my messed up back, which we determined is caused by my messed up tilted pelvis/lower back and neck issues. So going to see him 3X a week and trying to schedule in as many walks a week.

On top of all that and the craziness of the holidays, we decided to try and refinance! I had called the bank our mtg is with about 2 months ago to see what the rate would be if we were to refi and roll our 2nd mtg into it, and the gave me a quote of 4.75%. We said no thank you, call us back if you can get it closer to 4%. So they called on Friday and said they could now do it at 4%!!! So we got all the paperwork in and are waiting for the appaiser to call. Which means I need to clean up this house which looks like several bombs have gone off!!! The appraisal will be the deciding factor. I don't know if it will come up as high as we need it too in order for this to all go through, so please send positive thoughts on that!!!!

Del's?

Hasn't gone to anyone to get her hair cut in living memory, is more sensitive to beauty shop chemicals than I am, even.

No time, no money, no taste for things that are breakable or need dusted, hands are too damaged to use something like an iPod.

Diabetic and even more sensitive to artificial sweetners than I am.

Last Christmas.

ETA: seriously, I think the best thing I could get her would be to find somebody to come and offer her husband $1000 plus a Boer kid for every pig he owns if he'd promise never to raise pigs again...

Christmas/ Seasonal Holidays can be hard for everyone.

I stopped celebrating them to relieve the stress. Not a solution for everyone because of peer pressure.

My condolences to those having a hard time and that are sad.

I happily send some positive thoughts your way.
