Are you doing the solution in their water?
If so, is "this" seeming to run through the flock?
The individuals that "get it" would be those with immunal systems unable to deal with the organism.
The rest are probably OK and immune.
In the order of all things written on this disease, you should cull...........as MG can be passed down hen to chick via the egg.
I am not sure if a cockeral can pass it to the egg, I do not think so.
In the situation you describe, I have always drawn Tylan 50 injectible and given it IM in the breast, once, and any MG is knocked right out, providing I had the solution in the water.
But after recovery, said bird would come down with "it" again a few months later.
Some birds I had to do this with for over a year.
Realizing that their eggs hatched would produce a chick carrying the same disease is what prompted me to cull, despite the fact that they were my favorite hens.
Case in point: Cathy, my favorite Cuckoo hen, laid a monster XL-Jumbo dark brown speckled egg daily, all year.
She had more silver in her neck than others, and was easy to spot, and a floppy comb.
She was comical, clumsy & lovable.
She was so friendly & in our face always!
I then hatched eggs, and we got a pullet chick that looks exactly like her, most definetly Cathy's baby.
I had to save Cathy several times via Tylan injectible.
And then one day the pullet at 5 mo old started sneezing...........
I put Cathy down...she went to the cull pit with a few cockerals that had to go.
Sad, but it has to be, otherwise that disease will be passed down.
I am MG free now, and if ever I hear a sneeze & watch the bird to see...and if it has the symptoms, it is history.
My opinion & the opinion of many other breeders........and to fair to buyers.
Who wants to sell chicks or eggs that may have been MG tainted ?
Not me!

*** Edited to add:::::::: baytril will not get rid of MG.
Denagard will try, but sometimes won't either.
I have in the past always given the shot of Tylan first, then follow up with denagard in the water afterwards.

but I dont know that it is MG, it could be a number of things. all the waters have denegard in them right now. I would do the tylan injectable in a heartbeat IF I could get some. none of the feed stores has it and my horse vet didnt either. if I could get her over the sneezes I would give her one more chance. if she got it again off with her head. the cockerel, he got picked on badly one night and has been kind of runty since then. he just has runny eyes right now, no sneezing. but runny eyes are runny eyes. I dont want to keep her if its going to keep coming back, but if its something other than MG I would hate to cull her for something simple... not enough money to have her vetted or tested.

Here is the story of e.coli........................and the following with WSU vets & the bleach solution.
The e.coli disease mimicks MG.......................

The best thing to do is ALWAYS use the solution.
IF you get a sick bird on top of using the solution, then it cannot be a mere e.coli (colibacilliosis)

http://www.westvet.com/collibacilliosis.htm

The interesting issue is, e.coli is so antibiotic resistant, that you can not kill it, and it is so easily passed from bird to bird via feed & drinking water, and the symptoms mimick CRD..............

And the wild part is
he.gif
After $$$$$ in antibiotics & vet visits, all it took was a $1.98 bottle of household bleach.................ha ha ha.....
he.gif

Redreiner~~~~~~~~
Are ya doing the solution in their water???????????
The antibiotics will knock out both the disease (they had) and the immunal system, and leave the body wide open for e.coli infection just as if you were on a massive antibiotic.
remember, e.coli is antibiotic resistant.
The birds dip their beaks, and swallow the water, it clears up the infection in minutes IF it is e.coli!

OK I have to find, and use, an exercise machine.
My son in Monroe has my big one...as I could not have it here.

My son is looking to rent a house, BTW if anyone out there has such, like a nice big 3-2...................anyone?

Actually they'd love to buy...but their landlord went into foreclosure, and gave him a $3000. check to move out now, and then they get the $5000. Boeing bonus & a bunch more $ they have saved.
Anyone has a place, however, please let me know.
