yes...the storm was recorded here on the coast as 120 mile per hour winds...is that the storm of which you speak of?
It has forever changed the course of the Building Laws here....
Hugs for the loss of Mother also..

I still have mine...but time is getting close.
It is funny how I can 'feel' it...

After being in Nursing & caring for so many elderly & terminally ill..it is an odd sense...one I do not like to have.
But all the same, may permit me to prepare.
Unless my subconscious chooses to ignore it.

Still running pretty low-energy here. Good day, though; when my son and I went out to feed chickens this morning, I noticed the Hamburgs were pinking up and quickly took their old nest box that I'd pulled out and bleached last Monday and which had taken forever to dry and put in some remnant apple mint (they like aromatics a lot) and a handful of the sheep's orchard grass hay; a couple of hours later there was an egg!

The bucket is one of my BIL's infinite collection of three gallon restaurant sour cream buckets (he feeds the sour cream to his pigs) with a "D" cut out of the lid; it was stained black with mold when I got it, and has been bleached a half-dozen times. The mud on the outside is where I dropped next to their water fount it putting it in their run. Oops.

The bucket isn't big enough for the Wyandottes, alas, and neither Sylvia nor Anni-Frid like the five gallon size. I'll keep working or alternate nesting devices, I guess. Malvina likes her cheap (unused) cat box, maybe that's next?

I got a cheap print-on-demand copy of L. Frank Baum on Hamburgs for Christmas as a placeholder until I'm rich and can afford the hardback and it is an amazing thing- the information and illustrations are just what I've guessed about my sweet young things, and the writing is exactly what you'd expect from the author of The Wizard of Oz.

I'm going to keep giving them oranges as long as they're cheap, I think, along with their favored Romaine lettuce.

Also for Christmas, a Carhardt hoodie and a green wide-wale corduroy vest and a pair of fancy socks. And load-straps from my sister.

Oh! and a replica of a 16th Century Japanese block-print of chickens sleeping in a heap that my daughter found in Amsterdam.

I got a Cuisinart "Griddler 5 x 1" and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
I told him it was either that or a ring & he presented me promptly with the griddler~~~~

I got him A awesome pair of binoculers, a sight/spotting scope, and a night vision monocular...so he has been on regular commando excersions every night.
Even when not turning the light on in the night vision, lenses alone, the yard looks like day light.
Turn the light on & the yard looks like high noon in summer.
He is having a good time being the kid that he is

It went better than I expected. We had fun remembering various outfits and hats mother wore. Lisa ended up wearing a pair of high heeled, metallic gold, ankle boots from the sixties all day.

Now there's something to hold on to!

(The shoes and the memories both)

I need to post pictures on FB of the sparkly evening pillbox hat I decided to keep.
