Hallerlake and I originally met on the old AOL Garden board, and she's the go-to person for Rhododendrons and a gazillion perennials I don't grow; I'm a collector of heritage and landscape roses and weird flowers that look as if they came from other planets. I've been gardening here so long that almost all of my worst weeds are things I originally planted on purpose

Thing is, I am at the run-up to calving season, which means I have to be outside until I do a visual check on all the cows here (16 of them on 40 acres with no cross-fencing left) which puts me away from the house for a LONG time if I'm not lucky.

Anyway, the red Korean which the weevils think is tastier than anything except my climbing hydrangea:

Mine is not so fluted....but just as red.
Beautiful !!

There are so many beautiful Rhodies that I'm sorry I didn't plant them for decades because I was bummed out by the midcentury modern gaudy huge ones. (You know, cotton-candy pink the size of your head turn brown when rained on, et'c).

No kidding. I try not to impose my taste for ludicrously huge roses on others; Brenda Colvin, for instance, or Long John Silver, both of which need major muscle to keep from eating your house.

The one you have in back that grows over the trellis....is absolutely awesome...the rose covers the entire trellis, and is quite large beneath...it is quite large, a picnic can be had beneath.......

I have three Partridge Chantecler pullets available if anyone is interested. They are 10 months old and laying well right now. I have an auction up in the 8 weeks and older section. Meant to list it as a BIN, not an auction...if someone wants them I will delete the auction.

I have a old rose that I got from a twig start. I had to walk by them every day when I was working at a internet provider. The person who grew them was nice enough to start one for me and leave it out for me in a 1 gallon pot! it is a "bush" that if left unchecked will grow 9' tall and spread to take over the yard! I equate it to the spread of bamboo. It is a 5 petal yellow rose that is super fragrant when in bloom. No idea what kind it is but I love it.

That's Brenda Colvin, and she's still relatively young- maybe six? The one I fell in love with originally was on a trellis built of 8 X 8 timbers.
