So, before I go finish dinner, I have a profound story to tell.
I was just out collecting eggs.
But start the story from the beginning..This morning......I was feeding & watering & opening coops this morning...and when I opened the Buckeye coop, there was the sweetest hen~~~~
I had made up my mind that I would take a Java hen and a Buckeye hen & put them in the layer flock so as no Cock birds would be on them, and they would be perfect at the next show~~~
So when I went to feed up this morning, here she pops her head out..and wants to jump in my arms, so I took her, a GORGEOUS Buckeye hen...and walked calmly over as she said wee bits of cooing at me...and I put her in the layer pen.
INSTANT fight with the Barred Rock girls coming over to challenge & the Buck hen kicked a&*
So on went the day.
All day went by~~~~~
And where I started, I was out collected eggs, and when I went in the layer pen...I closed the gate & looked around...no Buck to be seen.
So I called out as I always talk to my birds...."Where is the little red girl?"
And up on my shoulder, she hops..making mr mrrrr noises..clicking her beak...settleing in as if to go to sleep.....and apparently not too happy being there as I can understand.
"But, you have to stay here".. and I put her down.
Then I went in the coop & collected eggs.
Right in the middle of bending over & reaching in to to the nest boxes...I feel her lite on me again...so totally happy to be on Mom....cooing and settling down and feeling safe on my back.........
So I stood up..she fell off but flew again into my arms...and when she did she would not fold her wings in...but held them out and tucked her head under my chin & into my T shirt.
She was hugging me !!
We talked, and I decided she needed to go home after all.
After all, the Buckeye cockerel is not even close to mean or abusive...and despite any show awards, this hen's happiness lies with her family...
So I called DH to get the egg basket..he was amazed I was hugged by a chicken..I actually tried several times to fold her wings in & hold her..but she wanted to fly up & hold me.
I am blessed by this wonderful hen.
So I carried her out, closed the gate, and opened her coop door, and put her back...
At first she wanted not to leave me..then she finally saw it was her coop & she went in.

There is no friendlier breed...Buckeyes & Javas !!!!!!!!!!
This hen can be seen in the photos I just posted, covered after her dust bath...

The one you have in back that grows over the trellis....is absolutely awesome...the rose covers the entire trellis, and is quite large beneath...it is quite large, a picnic can be had beneath.......

That's Brenda Colvin, and she's still relatively young- maybe six? The one I fell in love with originally was on a trellis built of 8 X 8 timbers.

Yes, where there is a picnic spot beneath ??
You had a large maybe 8' across & up over my head covered with fragrant roses......

I want to cut down my big-ol nasty on-steroids Wisteria and replace it with Lyda Rose. I used to think I liked Wysteria, before I missed trimming a few hard-to reach vines and now it is scrambling up my talles evergreens I have a grape vine doing the same, only one to ever get grapes in my yard, but the wildlife around here always gobbles up the fruit before anything ripens.

I will prune as ordered and I will start rootings as best I can~~~~~~~~

In the mean time, I gotta go close coops & get a shower and have din din on the table (what table

Sweet story CL - I have a super friendly RIR hen, not quite that friendly though! Mine bonded when I brought her in for the day when she was a pullet and was picking on her flockmates. She sat on my lap while I balanced my checkbook and read my e-mail, and then floowed me around as I did the laundry. Now she follows me whenever I go outside. But I'm jealous, my hen does not hug.

It is the same place that is out in Black Diamond/Maple Valley.

They sell beautiful doors - a huge room full. Bring a coat, it is cold in there warehouse, and a lot of the odd windows are kept in racks out-doors. I had to wash a lot of moss off one pair I bought, I think they had them quite a while! I wish I had known about it when we built. I used them for the windows and door on my chicken coop. I have 8 widows (4 large odd-sized ones and 4 standard sized not as big for the walls that were already framed up when I placed my order)

come on CR! You don't have a chicken or two in your freezer for the pot!!

Nope can't afford to send em to freezer camp. They bring too much at market to mess with processing them.
