I have wondered about a BIG pot of boiling water and dunk them. I just don't know how much heat the plastic can take.
Again we just use sand blaster. But if ya don't have one that makes it hard.

oh are these plastic frames? My dad always had wood ones. the torch idea would of course not work for that.

Torch would not work at all for wood ones, they have wax that would melt in a heart beat, but designed to be replaced with new sheets.
Plastic frames gotta get tossed or cleaned.

I am just laughing so hard I am almost in tears between CCG's pooptakes and 243s Monkey Balls...............

I know there are a lot of them starting up across the country in place of Farmers Markets and CSA's. Some places are so glutted with Farmers Markets that there are not enough people to buy so farmers are dropping out and CSA's you have to take what they give you each week so people like the co op idea better. Plus you can pick up more than just produce. Our co op started with just my produce and eggs, honey, jams and a local baker. We just kept searching for local producers. We have 2 new bakers, a new farmer, Viking ice cream from Poulsbo, Milk, Fresh frozen and smoked salmon, pickled items, and now the mushrooms. We are working on finding a cheese producer and should be able to offer organic grains from Oregon. We just started charging a membership fee this year. Last year was a trial year. This year we also received enough donations from membership to purchase a software program for internet ordering. I'ts always done on the internet but this program takes care of a lot of things automatically which frees up a lot of volunteer hours. Producers get their available products entered by Sunday night. Members order what they want Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon from 3-4 their orders are sorted into bins then pick up and pay is 4-6. Producers pay 15% of sales up to $15 a week. Similar to what a Farmers Market would cost. It's also good since you only pick what is ordered so there is less waste. Last year we stopped for the winter but this year we decided to go year round. All ordering is slowed due to lack of produce but I'm working on putting in a 30 x96 High Tunnel so I can have greens through the winter. Also breaking new ground for more fall crops. I would have been able to sell this whole winter if I had been able to plant more. Onions, Leeks, Carrots, Beets, Cole crops, Potatoes, Squash. All those could have been sold all winter but are sold out. I'm going to focus on fall and winter since there is an abundance of summer produce. We should be picking up a few new farmers and the other one we have only does summer since she's a bus driver during the rest of the year. Our website is www.Freshfoodrevolution.org. Check us out. We are on Facebook too.

Thanks!
I bookmarked the link & will spend more time studying it in a few..have some more chores to do this morning.
Cole crops in a high tunnel would work well, but even still, need a bit of warmth.
I have broccoli & green New Jersey-type (Danish Ballhead) cabbages & a cold loving variety of spinach in my green house, unheated, and they are doing about the same as the ones I planted outside, growing ever so slow~~~~~~~~~~~
Flashy Trout's Back lettuce outside, even in snow, does really well although also so very slow in winter.
Need longer light.
Maybe not so much warmth, but a longer day.
If you could rig a timer to turn on lights & extend the day as we do with chickens, I bet that would work really well.be a good experiment.

Hey, I just looked at that. Looks like lots of changes for the better. Things that were frustrating to me before will be changed! Looking forward to it. With unlimited storage for all I'm wondering if the benefits for GFM will be different or worth it.

Yes they say it will be worth it because there will be other special bene's.

Salina: so sorry about your serama.

Oh,btw.... Quincy is right now crowing outside and letting everyone know how gorgeous he is. He is doing great.

Thank You, still steamed... I just found her little stash of eggs in the hay. the live trap is still set and there is nothing in it. I will take that out today, I did let the rest back out into the outdoor run, they have been sleeping on the floor of the coop, wary of things from above I guess. they are very watchful at the moment.
Today its war on the rats, I went in the coop last night and got ran over by one. time to bait every tunnel and hole I find. I want to get a rat zapper to. locked the cat in there once and he just sat and cried all night..the big baby.
Quincy needs some pics posted soon. would love to see how he progress's

We are suppose to be getting my desk top computer back up today, so I should be able to get some photos up. He is doing good.
I bought a mouse trap from the feed store....it is a live trap....has 2 entrances...they can get in but cannot get out. It can hold up to 30 mice at a time. It has worked great. So far I am up to 12 mice. The trap was only $15

Not to sound odd....but what about a torch? Be really careful as to NOT burn the frame but light enough to warm up the old wax and residue and maybe you can use a scraper to scrape it off?

Cannot scrape it off as the plastic frame has hexes in it that are indented, only a brush can get in the holes..or CRs sand blaster.
The frame is not smooth.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/50801_jan_5_2012_005.jpg

all those little hexes are like shallow hexagon shaped cups.

Ok so this is going to sound stupid, not sure how big they are what about a oven or even a BBQ on low to just heat the wax and not hurt the plastic
hide.gif
would that work. I do know wax has a high melting point..
