I just texted CR
-Say a prayer for him and the birds. He has pens pancaked from weight of show. Caving in and he is trying to salvage anything. I am heading out now. We have from what I see on the deck 8 inches of snow between 1am and 7am.

Oh man, I hope his birds are ok and that he doesn't hurt himself trying to get it all fixed up for them.

Well our pen nets collapsed at 4 AM with a good 10" of snow on them, even though we shook them all off several times in the night (YAWN ! )
The nets are ruined.
have to waite for it to melt to rip it all out & re do all nets.
We got hammered with over 16"
NOW it is drizzling, so the snow is super heavy.
So far, no birds or coops are harmed & have not lost power.
CR just texted us that he just got his coops taken care of & he has lost power.
Good thing he has the dragon.
We are stuck & cannot go anywhere.
We have the most snow of this entire storm and it has baffled me !
We usually get the least amount of snow.
Olympia is whinning about their 8".
Mom reports over 16" in Elma...
The storm hit us first & went ENE to Lacey/Oly area & then on...
Funny our schools are running 2 hrs late !
hardy folks out here !!!

With all the snow on my green house, and now rain, I am a bit concerned but think it will hold OK.
Making a big pot of chicken & dumplings...what else ya gonna do ?

anyone leard from WA4-HPoultryMom ?
Wonder if she has lost power & had to use a hen to keep her eggs going ?

School Buses are following the plows here...amazing !

Love the pics. My muscovies were not able to get to the water so I had to put a bucket out and same for the geese. Not happy campers! I love your fence! Funny how you know your a country gal when you comment on fences instead of clothes!
Thanks - we didn't have a fence when we came her, we only got it 3 years ago, because of predators.

I'm hoping the pond doesn't totally freeze - they enjoy it even when it's as cold as this!

Melting fast & raining here............

Birds are all OK...locked up inside with food & water.
Glad I got warm well built coops when things like this happen !

Guys across the street in the flood plain duck hunting !
Jerks !!!
Well I am outta here & try to cut the fallen netting..maybe, but still have 16-18" of snow plus what has slid off coop roofs..what a mess !

pretty! do your icelandics like the snow? the ducks look as if they love it =)

The Harley ducks were "BREEDING" a while back (on slushy pond). The chickens won't come out. I did notice chicken tracks outside the fence, so someone got out and went foraging! Then the tracks went back inside.
