Evening peeps! Been awhile since I have logged in, my loss. The girls are doing well, still offering 1/2 a dozen eggs each morning. They are happy to go visit the goats, roaming about the property, and just generally having a good time getting into everyone's biz. Hopefully I will keep better tabs on the forums and try to become more of a part of the group here.

Ginger is spending the night in a tree. She really doesn't like the snow, and she can't get in the coop without stepping on it. Stupid bird brain.

Howdy stranger.. Many of the peeps are not on tonight due to power failures around the area.

One of my Am B recently decided she would rather sleep in therafters of the outdoor run. I had been going out nightly to move her inside the coop and finally said yer on yer own girl.

We have talked about the possibility of adding some dual purpose chickens to the flock, but, I am leery, need more information. For those of you that have layers, and dual purpose ones for meat, is it worth it ? Becoming more self-sufficient is what we are looking for, but, for those of you who have already made that leap, can you give me your take on it.

If she weren't too high for my ladder, I'd have put her in the coop. She's on her own tonight. If she doesn't make it, I'll replace her with someone smarter. She was supposed to lay blue eggs, but instead she lays pink eggs. Maybe this time I'll get a blue egg layer.

How much snow did ya get and how much do you have now ??

Currently there is about 6-8" out there, not a lot compared to the other side of the state, but, about 6-8" more than I would like to have right now, and currently 27 º with 29º being the high for the last 3 days. Coming from Pennsylvania, it doesn't snow out here, but, for this part of Washington, that is a good measure.
