finally got power back on this evening. 5 pm. it went out wednesday at 5 pm. freakin cold.... just a warning for those still without power, generators are considered dirty power and can and will affect the sensitive electronics in your computer. it will fry your pc without warning. make sure you have the pc plugged into a good surge protector. if your using a laptop try to only use it on battery and charge it thru a surge protector when on the generator. computers do not like fluctuations on power.

Thanks to this storm, I had to cancel a hatching egg order 2 days ago as egg production dropped on the Black Javas to 1 egg 1 day, maybe 2 the next day, somedays none.

That lost me $45.
Now today I am cancelling a hatching egg order for the Buckeyes, 1 hen is stubbornly broody, and the rest are giving me 1 egg a day, sometimes none, the next day 2...not fast enough production to save a doz in 5 days & have time to ship.
That lost me $35.

All buyer said they were willing to waite, but still makes me angry.....darn snow !

So seems our big snowstorm has hit E WA ?
Hard to believe the storm has any snow left ???

Yep, the lovely white stuff is piling up. All my birds are in good shape. Had a couple of days of bitter cold....everyone got a corn mash I made....trying to help them stay warm. I am getting 5 to 8 eggs a day...still plenty for us.....sorry you missed out on the $$$$$ I need it right now too. I am flat broke.

OK peeps I have finally caught up. So T HI is now back in power. Got gas for car etc. And said she is willing to do what she can to help others. But she said since she isn't on line you need to text her or tell me and I can.
Glad RRF Is doing better. And PLEASE no more 2:45 am wake up text ! ! ! Just kidding If any of you EVER need anything my cell is ALWAYS on. If I was worried about getting woke up I could use the OFF SWITCH.
Last night I did a text "roll call"for all that I had a cell # for 16 in all including Ron's DD since he is not allowed to text.

I have not heard from her for 3-4 days~~~

I got the downed & snowed on netting all cut off, balled up & tossed in the garbage......through the 6" of margarita slush.

Barely kept from slipping...
Got 3 coop poop trays cleaned of 2" thick of poop

Almost had ammonia~~~~~~not good for birds at all !
So 4 coops of birds are out right now...first time in 4 days & all are fine.

Got 3 more coops to clean........poop trays only but had to come in & warm up as mittens were all soaking wet with ice water from the netting...feets is hurting dispite the warm boots as when hands get cold, feet & hands BOTH turn blue & blood is cut off when you have Raynaud's..........soaking in warm water is extremely painful but the only way to warm up.

Now, to get ready for the 50 MPH winds..........

My poop trays are nasty too. I need to get them cleaned. Hopefully tomorrow. Depends on how crazy the weather is.

Im BACK!!! 48 hours and still no power. I just got the pc hooked up to generator. Gawd, I want my lights!
What a nightmare. I had several 100 eggs in the bator ready to hatch and the power went out Wed. I had to bring all eggs in from outside and all chicks. I lost several young seramas from outside because I didnt have heat. I have boxe all over the house. Got the generator going and then a few hours after it started it died. I was by myself with the kids and had to deal with it. I have had eggs in my pockets and shirt for 2 days now and most hatched. Today I went to get gas for the generator and left the hatching eggs by the fire and got home and my dog had a meal of hatching chicks. I wanted to kill him! CR has been awesome. He has put up with me texting at all hours. I can read all byc stuff but cant reply with the new system on my phone so I caould see what was going on. You are all great folks here and care and help each other. That is so so so cool. Im in the dark and its hard to see the keyboard so sorry if bad spelling. I talked to Jen this am and she is out of power too. We are now told it will be tues. or wed. I am going to check in later when needed. Hope all are well, safe and warm!

I am so sorry for all your losses. But I am happy that youi had some good ones. I hope that it all turns around soon for you. It is hitting us now.
