It is 32 here and has been snowing all day. In town it is wet snow and 39. I think the weathermen have been smoking something funny.

The winds are howling too, expecially down in town.

When I was out driving, looks like mnost alders and many birch are broken about 10 feet up from the ice storm. A few big evergreens are down too, but mostly alder and birch.

LOL. me too. Need to get the greenhouse ready to go but I still see snow out the window so thinking were are still cabin bound!

How many members do you usually sign up? Do you guys farm by yourselves or do you hire help?

We are shooting for (20) it would be nice if we could get all 20 slots filled this year. We had 10 last year. Last year was a terrible year over here for growing, spring didnt arrive till summer and summer never showed up at all.

There is just the two of us. We couldn't afford to hire anyone to help. We have a 2 acre garden, a 20x40 herb garden, a 20x30 hoop house and a 15x30 glass greenhouse attached to the house.

A few photos:

Alex standing on the snow that slid from the roof. This is the day after the rain, so it has already sunk considerably. The day before was much higher, but loose. DD cut her leg on the ice shards n it when she tried to climb the mound a day earlier:

That gargoyle behind him in the secnd photo was completely covered a day earlier.

I just tried calling Karen again (birdnbeast)...no answer. Left another message. I only know what town she lives in, don't know where exactly, so I can't go investigating....

The area surrounding your house is beautiful!

Thanks! I love it except for when we become totally cut-off. Then I get nervous. What if someone were to get a hert attack or something? I'm not far from a plowed road that I could trek through the snow to and wave down a pssing car, but it would still be trouble. The downed phone lines (cell and land) are the most worrisome.

I would be surprised if they get that price. See I spent a couple days this summer talking to a guy who deals in CI. I also learned how to identify and date a few.
Also youdid see that the pan has been sand blasted right.

I picked up a Wagner CI skillet similar to that for $22 bucks at an antique store a few months back. Carefully cleaned it up because I couldn't see any marks on it. Afterwords it looked brand new. I looked up the mark type and mine dates to late 1800s early 1900s. I wouldn't pay what that guy's asking for that. Yes, I see the sand blasting too. That ruins the smooth finish.

ETA. woops. the regular skillet is the one I dated. Haven't cleaned the one with the ridges in the bottom yet.

I got mine for using. Didn't really care the brand. Just that it was old enough to be smooth so it can be good nonstick. I hate the modern ones.

Do any of you have to travel out on a daily basis ? That to me would seem to be difficult in the winter months

When I clicked on your usern name it went to your profile. All posts by is on a menu under the icon.

I'm talking about how to do a search for them when you haven't seen them post or heard from them for a while..

Type their name in the search box? I suppose that's tricky if it's case sensitive or you can't remember if their nickname is one word or two.

I'm mostly finding the new interface rather lie a couple of other posting boards I've used, except the icons are nonstandard.
