So I have a add on Craigs list for some Coronations if anyone is looking for a trio and also have some splits that need to go. Just Pm me.

I love the Coronations. Can't fit any into my coop at this time but I'm going to keep my ears open in case anyone I know wants some pretty birds!

remember, if you get baby chicks from the feed store, they will need to be INSIDE pretty much until they feather out, unless you have provisions for radiant heaters (the Brinsea EcoGlow is a highly recommended one) or heat lamps in an outdoor shelter or garage

I had an old under-desk radiant heater left over from a home office in the chilly basement, which we used

we kept the chicks in our upstairs shower (inside translucent plastic bins, then later extended that to a second "story" with cardboard boxes and roosts) ... and the chicks didn't seem to need quite as high a temperature as the "standard protocol" would suggest .. they were happy to run around in 65 to 68 degree room temperature, just occasionally sticking their fluffy behinds up next to the heater (supposedly about 100* but possibly not that hot since I could lay my hand on it and leave it there)

if you adopt mature chickens from one of us, of course, you can tuck your birds right into a coop

I'd enthusiastically second the idea of a coop put together with screws or bolts, from individual panels (a relatively cheap way is to use pallet boards, face them (both sides) with plywood or paneling) -- depends on your budget; often you can re-purpose a dog kennel or playhouse or storage bin, scrounged off Craigslist

I just realized I have an old plywood sandbox on wheels, hiding under some underbrush, now why didn't I think of that when I was agonizing about building a separate quarantine coop? ... it simply needs an A frame top ... it even has a long handle to pull it around ....

talk to ChickieLady about her way of constructing runs ... she's near enough you, just outside Raymond

I totally understand having a billion things to do! I was mostly blaming myself because I knew you were going to Danas shop and spaced it on the bags. Would have been a perfect time to get them to you. I was joking on the 'being invited' part! No worries.

I knew you were in Gig Harbor but had no idea you were that close.
But seriously...we had so many stops and still not enough time !
I needed to hit the Health Food Store & did not get to that either.

Did you get hit in your jaw or close? My youngest one time came up under my jaw and hit me hard with his head. I had to see a specialist to put my jaw back and do special things to keep it there until the muscles got tight again. It was bad..

I don't recall getting hit in the jaw, but If I open my mouth wide when I yawn, it pops back out. I have to push on the joint as I close it to have it line up correctly, otherwise I can't quite get my teeth to meet. Normal conversation does not bother it, and the pain is really subsiding. I'm not ready to bite a carrot. but the constant jaw pain is now gone. I don't even think it hut at all this morning, but last night I could not find a comfortable way to sleep - like my jaw is too loose and falls too much to either side with gravity which either pushes or pulls at the left hinge.

How did you get the muscles to tighten?

Are you selling your flock? I sold most of my Coros late last year and my last 2 favorite hens a few days ago. I had so many projects going I had to let something go. It was very difficult to make a decision but finally decided the Coros needed to go (also the Barnies). Actually, as far as eye candy I like the look of the Light Sussex more which I still have a few in my layer pen and I will probably keep them forever! Well, my lights are actually splits but they look the same as lights. I have a few nice dark egg laying Barnies in my layer pen as well. Hmm, seems my layer pen consists of favorites I can not part with and calling them layers is a good excuse!
