Hey all. Still in a really bad mood, even before I spent way too much of yesterday carrying fist-sized rocks around to fill a huge hole the young Wyandottes had dug against the back wall of their run. Extra tired, no further on at getting the EEs properly housed, and in general you don't want to hear from me, either.

Welcome to all new folks, best hopes that everyone gets further on toward their goals et'c and so on.

Stupid hawk got a couple of my juvenile birds today. The girls decided to go scrounge by the well house instead of staying in their normal safe areas. *sigh* And all the juveniles haven't been ranging near the adults, who are paranoid, lately. Just makes me pull my hair out.

Maybe I just need little chickens. A big covered run will give them more freedom than it does the big ones. DH gave me The Eye over that idea, though. I don't think he even cares for the silkies because of their size.

And the Rocks are bullying all the other birds and will have to go. First two started pulling everyone's feathers at the beginning of the week and I separated them. I can't even put another Rock with those two without them going for her. Something is just wrong with these hatchery birds. I think two out of the six are mild mannered. Just frustrates me.

OK, I'm done ranting about chickens.

I got to say WOW to Chicken Rustler. Way to get the bad guy!

I am so sorry for your loss, can you put little shelters around so they can get underthem.

Well after 5 hours at the winey. I sold $0 hope tomorrow has more than 5 visitors like today.

CR,
Dont give up just keep handing out cards. I went to a show once and just made mymoney back. Than a few weekes later a lady called me and got a big order for christmas.. Which made that show one of my best..

Look at this picture my sister posted on facebook. The man sitting down is MY DAD! He helped develop the FIRST personal computer. OMG, I never knew that. We were very young then and even when we were older at the time he died we still didn't have a computer in the house and he had been working on some other computer thing Home computers were still years away. Wow, no wonder my High School aptitude test put computer programmer at the top of the list. I remember when I shared the results of that test with him I said "no way". I could never sit in an office all day everyday. Dad never said a word. He already knew that and why he started a ranch several years before. I really miss him.

That is just so cool...

As far as my Birthday luncheon today...............went to Mom & dad's and installed a wafer thermpstat on his hot frame we made for him.
We took the hot frame to him last Sunday, and Dad added the sand over the heat tape & plugged it in & was wowed !
He put the wireless sending unit in the hot frame & could sit in his easy chair & watch the temps////////
So Wednesday he got sterile starting mix in a flat & seeded with some leftover last year's Basil seed...and yesterday the sprouts popped up !
My Mom was so happy (Italian !!!! )
I told them they can now grow Basil or whatever year round...even in snow !
Dad is looking for (as are we) more aluminum framed dual paned windows, so we can make more hot frames !!!
Anyone seeing any, please let me know !

Also looking for a Chevy or GMC 1/2 to 3/4 ton pickup, long bed or flatbed in good condition but blown motor or blown entire drive train.

Please let me know...Einstein (DH) is driving me crazy with odd ball inventions & needs a serious good to do that we can haul lumber for our house coming up shortly here !!!!:weee

CL, do you ever have government auctions in your area? We just had one here about a week ago and they had a bunch of pickups and flatbeds that had engine problems / blown motors.

Hey guy quick question. My cornish crosses are almost 3 weeks old and thus far have been living in my bathtub. My question is when do you think it will be ok to put them outside.? Well not outside but into my shed where I have a set up for them. The only thing is that even with a heat light it only gets about 55- 60 degrees. Will they be ok or should I wait another week or two? Maybe just add another heat lamp? I just wish they had more room to move around. Even tho all they do is eat and lay around anyway. Here is the set up I have for them in my shed.

What we have done in the past is put cardboard all around the sides than also made a top for the pen. You can try that and see how high the heat goes up too. Also you can lower the light, oh get a gride thing on the bottom of that light incase it hits the ground it wont start a fire. Also you need another light in case one goes out the other will still be on. Am I making since? How many chicks do you have right now 25?

I have 23 chicks... 4 Rhode Island Reds, 9 Barred Rocks and 10 Cornish. The Reds are in a tote away from the others so they will not be going outside until they are at least 6 weeks old. So I will have 19 outside. But thats a good idea of enclosing it more so the heat stays in and adding another light. Thanks
