alright well, I have to catch up on house work, coop work and goat work cause I've been gone too long,
Oh BTW went to the women in ag seminar!! Heres what I learned,
There are not a whole lot of small farms here involved in co ops or farmers markets ect.
Because Eastern WA is a Huge LARGE production farming community the extention agents here don't know crap about small farm ops or their needs therefore the information I want will be hard to obtain, unless I do my own research.
The WEST side has more support and extention agents that can deal with the issues they have, therefore, they comprise the largest portion of small farm education and programs.
There are HUGE issues regarding USDA slaughter facilities in regards to small farms and things like organic and natural fed animals. They only want to do large "finished" herds, vs working with smaller producers ect.
There are no organized small farm groups here to tap into for support or education.
So, yea, we are the redheaded step children here and have to do our own research in order to improve our farm, help with marketing, and learn farm business practices!!! And you wonder why there are times when I dislike the "politics" in this state!!!!

On a side note tho, I did meet some wonderful women, who work very hard and have accomplished a lot!! I have their numbers and email and hopefully we can stick together and make some good stuff happen!!

Go Min Pins! Never owned one but a good friend does. I, too, remember "Daddy" the min pin (Kurt). We will be cheering for Cassie!

Hey, ROBIN!!!! Are you avoiding me because it is hatching time again?????? I'm REALLY trying to get a hold of you, and YES, its because I am looking for either someone to incubate (at $3 a chick) or has a setting hen!!!! It's that time of the year again when I lose my mind over every single egg!!!!!

So, anyone in the South Sound want to earn some feed money!!!??? Help out this old crippled, widder woman??? If you got a setting hen and don't mind putting a setting of my show eggs under *standard sized chicken eggs) I would LOVE to hear from you. Now, only thing, PLEASE NO ADVICE! Lord, I've posted on CL and you should SEE the "advice" I get. I JUST WANT TO PUT MY EGGS UNDER A HEN THAT IS SETTING for $3 a chick!

pettec63, did you see the listing in CL a while back saying the state will rent out to small farmers complete equipment for poultry slaughter? I'm not sure if that will be helpful for you or not, but better jump on it those of you who can use it before Pasado's get's the state to withdraw it as "cruelty to animals"....

Westminster Kennel club dog show starts tonight on the USA network. 5 pm and then replayed at 8 pm. Please cheer for my grand puppy the miniature pinscher CH Marlex Classic Red Glare AKA Classie. She is a daughter of a top winning dog I bred and sent to my friend Armando. Armando is showing Classie tonight and was also the recipient of Owner handler of the year award on saturday night. Minpins hardly ever achieve the status that Classie has so its pretty thrilling for me to watch her win on this level

That is fantastic! You must be SO proud! And thank you for the reminder. I enjoy watching the Westminster show every year. Our boy Gryffin, (Timberline "Can't Say No") has had several relatives show at Westminster, including his grandsire, Ch. Pebwin XPDNC who actually won Best of Breed at Westminster in 2004. He went on to Best of Breed in GRCA Regionals on both the east and west coast. Gryffin, is of course our "pet quality" boy, but he wins most of all the awards given in our household...

But tonight we are rooting for Classie! Whoo hoo!

If you mean Chickie Lady Robin, she is in Olympia today, don't know when she will be back, that is why she hasn't answered you yet

Red Reiner, I have a dog question for you. I see that our Golden Retriever Gryffin is listed in the K9 database with all the pedigree and breeder information. Since he's a pet quality dog, can I update his information once I register, even though I'm not his breeder? Do pet quality dogs get to have their photos on the database even though they don't get shown? I was saddened to see that his grandsire that I had mentioned a few posts ago, died in 2010. He was an incredible dog. He sure does have a lot of nice offspring, but I'm sure he can never be replaced. He was some beautiful boy.
This is the link to Gryffin's page that I'm referring to -
