Yea, it will be interesting what the report on her (Whitney) is. What I find interesting is they didn't say it was drowning, cause that's where they found her. So, they must think it's something else. It's just a shame what the evils of fame can do! So, many talented wonderful people, some who pick themselves up out of poverty ect, who become famous and then something happens....it's sad

Quote: I got the "egg" money part back but not the shipping... hence i have 10% of my total egg money. most went into the bantam eggs I was hatching and I bumped that bator.

I got redwood boards to make a nice solid wood incubator but still need to build it.
Least if it is solid wood it won't be easy to bump off the table top.

Thanks for the support Julie. I got a spankin for posting something similar on that other thread. Was beginning to think maybe I shouldn't be posting due to being in a dark place these days. But dang, every Feb there are posts about people crying because their February delivery of chicks was dead. I just get tired of the whining! Hey all, In case I get banned one of these days and you need to get a hold of me, Rustler and jbear have my cell and they and Chickie have my email. Just sayin'. I try to keep my mouth shut these days but ya never know. It don't take much to send me over the edge. I was thinking maybe they needed to call the Wambulance for the OP on that other thread but I'm thinking I'm the one that needs one. Get me outta here! Wheres the straight jacket!

Please don't go away !
And I got yer cell & addy.
But I understand what you mean about getting so tired of the same poop year after year after year !
The same for shipping too early as for OMG my birds have bloody poo & then the purists who will refuse to feed their chicks Medicated feed...and so on & so on....every year us old folks have yet another new batch of newbies to school.
I tire of it, but we are all they have.
You have great knowledge !!!

Well, I had a turkey trot this afternoon!! Moved my trio to the back coop so they can start laying again! They are all do heavy to pick up so I opened the gate and herded back to the pen, I moved the hens in front of me and the tom followed. They did pretty good, didn't go too fast, and they weren't all over the place. They are very happy in there, lots of room and grass,(when it starts to grow) and a coop to nest in ( they won't roost inside?) The hens go in to lay eggs, but they won't roost there they roost outside!! Dork balls!!

Cheryl, Your girls have started up laying again! They are so sweet too. Love them.

Oh good! lol Ive gotten 4 blue eggs so far. Im thouroughly frustrated with these two. lol I had everyone locked up for well over a month, and not a single egg from the AM's. Ive given up on them. I am however really liking my NewHampshire hen. She has a nice heavy frame, is friendly, and gives me 5-6 eggs a week. I just like her more. lol

I swear I heard a rooster crow today. But I dont have any roosters! Makes me wonder if I have a crowing hen again. lol

Oh, I moved my incubator to my second bathroom, and put it in the tub, and it seems to be doing much better at holding temperature. The other two times I hatched, I had it in my bedroom closet and then the office closet hoping I could keep the temp even, but, I just kept having problems, so lets

that we can stay right at temp and keep the humidity up, which is another problem I seem to have!!

HEHE I know... I am so addicted to chickens already. I got my first 6 from the co op last April and since then it has been my mission to learn all I can about chickens.( I want to be a responsible chicken mama) And to think I didn't even want chickens.... Thank goodness my daughter has her daddy wrapped around her finger and together they convinced me to get them.) Now I don't know what I would do without them. BUT I still don't know what I will do if I end up with a bunch of Roo's??? HUMM.
Do what the rest of us city girls who can't keep Roos do - love 'em up when they're little, raise them right, don't get too attached, then re-home them before they crow. I've hatched and raised 4 beautiful cockerels and have been lucky enough to find homes for 3 of the 4. Two were sold for $5. 1 was given away for breeding, and the last I took out to Ave. Farm and Feed for them to find him a home. Don't let the possibility of hatching Roos keep you from the joy of doing your own hatching! But you've been warned now - you will get addicted!

OK, I'll try to be good so they don't ban me. Really though, I totally understand someone new to chickens to make mistakes but like I tell my kids, it's ok to make a mistake as long as you learn from them and don't make the same mistake twice. This person reported their frozen dead chicks to the hatchery and ordered a replacement shipment for the next week and ta da, more frozen dead chicks. There are people who understand the chick mortality in Feb and order anyway because they really need the chickens to mature by a certain date and that's ok too, although sad. So you just cut your losses and move on. I kind of said something about putting on the big girl panties and sucking it up. I guess that was kind of mean. I need to be more....... something. Can't think of the word right now. Maybe just plain nicer, kinder, courteous. I didn't used to be mean. Shoot, life can sure harden people. I feel like an ice princess.

Please don't go away !
